I was comparing the difficulty of Grim Batol to the raids. With GT having a queue and how hypothetically would BWD and BoT would have gone with one.
Relative difficulty is important when thinking about reward structures.
It’s understood (at least to me) any remotely challenging content can’t be queue for.
I never have issues finding people. I haven’t been in the mythic plus scene long but it’s mostly been a positive experience. Maybe it’s your server group?
And the answer will always come back as mostly opinion, just as it does between M+ and raids. Even more here where we are completely speculating on what Blizzard COULD create but we haven’t even seen. Sorry, but it’s a pointless question. The OP specifically requested it be made equally difficult. Your doubt on how you think it could or couldn’t be done is countered by both your limits in design experience, just as I am limited, your imagination, any bias you may have against the style or concept, and the fact that this is initial ideas tossed out by a player before designers have a kick at the can.
See point one
You’ve already said Grim Batol was too hard for queue’d content, so why is this suddenly now a question of Grim Batol being a bad example of content that COULD be built on for an M+ parallel? GB meets the first of your criteria, yet, you keep bringing it up like it’s an objection.
Valor was the only thing that saved it from decline for a few more weeks. I think the drum nerfs and the lack of variability in classes (have to play other classes/specs with other covenants to be efficient) has played a bigger role.
Also lack of rewards. No one pushes further due to the fact that there are no mounts for doing a +20
I think one of the issues in SL is there is just about no “leetism”. Every person does the same content, there are no exceptional people anymore. You don’t get to strut around in tier gear, you don’t have unique mounts. The closest thing to that in SL is the M+ mount and you see them all the time.
If all the gear is cookie cutter, and we cover it up with transmogs anyways. If all the rewards are handed out to a huge portion of the playerbase, then there really is no “leetism”, in fact there’s not a lot of pride in anything people do, and that’s a HUGE issue.
This 100x over.
I can go buy AOTC for 40k according to the ads in M+ groupfinder that aren’t being removed.
With WoW pay to win and tokens going for about 200k at 20 bucks that means
AOTC = 5 bucks.
Hard to take pride in an accomplishment that costs the same as a Big Mac, and is about as satisfying.

You can complete a 14 at 200 ilvl… remember you get rewards for being a failure in M+?
Maybe.
Probably.
Been slowly pushing and have 1 dung left.
Slow and steady…
Ah, I see. What you’re describing is a very different scenario than what I experience. I roll solo dolo. Pugs dont work that way. Group of organized, competent players? Sure.
And as far as the failure bit, I couldn’t agree more. My solution I’ve been stating for quite awhile now to the non existent problem of leavers in mythic+ is go remove the gear from untamed runs
I keep seeing more and more “KSM Only” in group finder. The problem is that the keys are 0-5
Just yesterday I saw a M0 with an ilevel requirement of 200. for what? Its Mythic 0.
I definitely think that some people are trying to gatekeep to force lower level players to buy carries

If you want to be elite why would you pay for a carry? People will catch on

People want quick and easy runs, which means brining over qualified players. It has nothing to do with a hidden agenda of trying to force people to buy carries. That’s some real tin foil hat conspiracy theory.

OK…but nothing stops you from playing that way right now. Chances are you’d time the key anyway.
Sure… you can time it no problem as long as you don’t bring along your wife, your kid, your friend from work, or that neighbor who just started playing. As long as you’re willing to draw from a pool of candidates with acceptable resumes and a good in-game work history, you’re golden. To hell with the social aspect of it all.

Then bring your wife, your kid, your friends, and your neighbors. There’s almost no downside to missing the timer. If you aren’t inviting them, aren’t you being the elitist?

Yeah… no downside. Half the loot, a downgraded key, and a bunch of salty players. You’re chock-full of denial.

This season’s affix was particularly bad.

You get 2 pieces of gear, the vault, the valor, and the lolanima whether you time it or miss it by 3 hours. You lose a key level, which holds no value. There’s probably 20 of whatever key you have being run right now.
And why is your wife and your friends getting salty about missing the timer?

seriously. this.
we’re on stupid-hundred pull on mythic donny. WEEKS of progression in extending the lockout to work on the boss. WEEKS of no gear in vault and no loot from a boss who isn’t dead yet. When we finally do kill the boss, we’ll get four items for 20 people. This is standard for mythic progression. heck, many groups start lockout extensions long before we do (we didn’t start until sludge died twice).
whereas a m+ runner can do a single +14 - not even timed - and gets a guaranteed 226 ilvl item in his vault every week.
people need to get out of here with wanting m+ to even more easily (no timers at all) award the same ilvl as mythic raiding, when the investment in time and effort isn’t even remotely close to the same. m+ is the single best method of end-game raiding (PvE speaking).

Yeah…with each passing tier, I’m amazed that they haven’t nerfed the weekly reward.
