Skyriding is too hard for disabled gamers

That is dishonest take right there. Pathfinder is a barrier.

Ya theres a few people who definitely could use a vacation, let the forums have a few days of peace

Based on how TWW zones are designed flying is very important.

The truth is coming out now.

Nothing about any of this is dishonest.

Don’t cherry pick.

You cherry picked. Pathfinder is a barrier.

But that proves my point pathfinder should no longer exist as a barrier.

You took what I said out of context to further a poor narrative. Don’t be disingenuous. If you cannot reply to what I quoted in good faith, then welcome back to the ignore list.

The fact that you can still read what I post indicates I am never put on an ignore list.

The truth comes out no matter what in the end. This is why pathfinder is a barrier that must be removed.

It’s ableist to minimize their experience by behaving as though playing the slow, inconvenient way on a ground mount is no big deal. It’s red tape that none of us had to go through, so yes, it’s a barrier. Of if you prefer to white knight further, we can split hairs and call it a totally unnecessary hurdle, which it indeed is.

You were. I said earlier that I purged my ignore list. Now I guess I build it back up again. Because you refuse to answer and just want to be disingenuous.

Bye bye.

It definitely is unnecessary. Both forms of flight should be available from the start. Neither takes away from the other. It certainly is slow & inconvenient to go via ground mounts, at least it is if you have to do it for long periods of time (a subjective measure, to be sure) or go very far. In some areas (like spider land) I don’t think it is even possible to go via ground only, as you will be discovered and attacked over & over.

I would never want to take away anyone’s preferred method of travel, or delay it. Why would I? Especially when it would not impact me in any way.

Nah, it’s absolutely possible to be on the ground the entire time. I did it on purpose. Just have to have situational awareness.

Just ride, bro.

You can unlock it using ground mounts or if you are super lazy like me, just wait until Blizzard auto unlocks all flight for the zone. They do that towards the end of the expac, until then ask a friend to carry you around on one of their flying mounts for areas you cannot get to. Blues do come and post here from time to time but you have a less than 1% chance of one coming here to help you or even seeing this thread for that matter. So do as I sometimes do, wait for it to auto unlock later in the expac OR have one of your friends fly you around to any of the places you need to go.

Is it ableist to use the stairs and suggest using the ramp when someone complains about being unable to use the stairs?

I support removing Pathfinder entirely, but it does get tiring seeing the same old rhetoric on this topic, particularly when it doesn’t hold up under any level of scrutiny.

Tbh I’d love to see it stay, but move toward the direction of cosmetics and mounts.

But yea. These topics are frustrating to say the least.

It’s ableist to minimize someone’s experience, but also to not consider what that experience entails at all.

Rent a wheelchair and push yourself around in it all day, every day. Use the toilet every day like someone in a wheelchair. Change into your clothes in the morning in it every day. Push yourself up ramps every day. Get your hands blistered from the wheels. It’s not easy, believe me. I was given the opportunity to try some of these things during a disability awareness demonstration hosted by a non-profit many years ago.

A ramp makes things easier, but it still isn’t easy. A flippant order to just take the ramp is rude, and yes, ableist. Do you want to take the ramp? I sure don’t. It’s a hurdle people in a wheelchair have to overcome every day.

Not to mention the “ramp” in this case would be more akin to steady flight, which must be earned. Ground mounts are like pushing yourself in a wheelchair up a rocky dirt path.

I don’t need to believe you, I’ve been seriously injured as part of my extracurriculars through life. Certainly not akin to living with such a condition, but I’m not blind to what kind of struggles people go through in a wheelchair.

Being rude is rude, yes. You added flippant.

What’s the alternative?

Pathfinder is the reality right now. Telling people they can achieve what they want through ground mounts isn’t in and of itself rude. None of us can remove the Pathfinder requirement.

Can people be rude about telling you it’s possible? Sure. They will be. They are, in this thread.

I can hardly blame them when you jump to “ableist” the instant anyone mentions it.

If having slow flying locked behind having a max level character is a problem, then it’s been a problem almost continuously since 2007.

TBC: no flying below level 70 at all (couldn’t fly at 60 until patch 3.2)
Wrath: cold weather flying and the BoA book required 77 and 80 respectively to purchase.
Cata: the exception, because it’s required for Deepholm.
MoP: Required 90 to purchase. No BoA version until it was added to the BMAH in Warlords.
Warlords: Pathfinder V1
Legion: Pathfinder V2
BFA: Pathfinder V3
Shadowlands: Pathfinder V4 (max level campaign unlock)
Dragonflight: Pathfinder V5 (max level campaign and explore all zones)
TWW: Pathfinder V6 (complete the leveling campaign)

What other choice is there? Sit next to the ramp and yell at anyone that passes by that it’s not fair? Or do you take the ramp?

And unlike you, I was actually paralyzed from the waist down for a time. So I got a nice taste of that. However issues like this, people don’t even attempt to see the glass half full. All they see is what they are missing.

There are a many number of things to make skyriding usable by anyone (unless its a motion sickness problem).
My setup, I can quite literally fly and play 100% 1 handed. Why? Because I’m super lazy. not because of a handicap. So question is, why not ask HOW to use these features with what we have now vs complaining about something that isn’t changing anytime soon?
(and that’s also not dissuading feedback, more so curb the complaining)

A better comparison is a big van with a lift vs putting your wheelchair in the passenger seat.
We are literally talking about QoL, speed of travel.

Yes, Shadybolt’s response was flippant. I think you are missing some context in the form of several comments in this thread. The alternative was, at minimum, to not defend game design that forces disabled players into these situations and then tell them to deal with it because it’s no big deal. That was ableist. Put bluntly, it’s disingenuous too.

Hopefully we are all adults here. Someone using the word “ableism” doesn’t give another person permission to be rude, because being rude is a choice.
