Only if you are mashing surge forward.
Vigor is a non issue unless you are gathering and don’t have the regen point.
Angle is literally put your nose down a smidge because physics and momentum.
Environment… don’t run into things? You have to be just as aware with tbc flight.
Idk. Ive been using it for 2 years and Id say tbc flight is way more of a hindrance.

Those god damn trees in Val’sharah…
The cooldown is because of the free vigor. And the free vigor is awesome to me. I enjoy the takeoff animation.
Ogodyes. lol

i prefer skyriding. faster the better. but man, when i land and take off too much, the lack of bubbles makes me immensely sad. that slow decent of abject failure to the ground…
i don’t feel like its clunky, just that it has a learning curve.
y’all gonna love it when blizz adds the skyriding mechanics to ground mounts lol
I should have been more specific, sorry. I mean that I think the cooldown is silly because the free vigor point is moot. Vigor is such a non issue generally that Dracthyr having a free launch up really is not that big a deal. I always thought that the fact that they slapped a ten second cooldown on it was funny because of that. They could have left the cooldown off and it would not have made a ton of difference in the scheme of things. You would have still have had the cast time between uses to balance out the way a mount plays.
I like the takeoff animation too. It always looks a little weird when Soar bugs and you hit the ground and take off again without it. Just shoot straight up. Looks odd.
OP is likely stuck at school or something on a computer and can’t play, and needs attention. Cool story, bro. Some folks like skyriding, some don’t. More news at 11.

I’ve been avoiding the “skyriding” threads since DF.
I think putting a 705% flying speed on steady flying (as the same as skyriding) would have people have choices here.
Skyriding is meh at most to me. It goes fast yes and I use it yes because it’s way waster than steady flying. The speed is the appealing part here always has been not the system for me.

Hard disagree with you. Just because one is locked or not doesn’t make it better or worse. I personally feel like skyriding is one of the best additions to the game.

The biggest clunk to me is the mounts that do more of a “sky running” animation. Those just don’t mesh with my brain when it comes to gliding vs actual flying mounts. With static flying it makes more sense for them to run since I’m actually holding W. The auto-run nature of skyriding just feels off on those mounts. The surge forward animations do look awesome on a lot of them, it’s just the slow gallop/trot while gliding that my brain is like “Something’s not quite right”

I never said it was a good concept.
I want almost comparable to Skyriding speed.
Maybe in a few more expansions, who knows.

Feels kind of forced, because Skyriding performs better in long distances. If the devs were chill they’d just say go choose witch one you want, and they’d both perform similarly.
If I ask myself why they don’t let OG flight faster, it’s to in a way force you to use Skyriding.

My hunter hasn’t switched from regular flying since I unlocked it, once I unlocked regular flying nothing has forced me to use skyriding.
Well if you want to go the quickest long distance it is much better.
I’m lazy, I still use flightpaths.

Ah, ok lol.
I gather a lot, so fast flight is essential.
That’s mainly why I use regular flying. I found vigor to be an issue with having to land all the time for a herb or mining node.
My other toons though… all Skyriding.
