Skyriding is soo stupid lmao

No, because you don’t even play the game.

Ok you really got me with this one. Jig is up guys he got me I don’t even know what WoW is

It was nerfed 3 or 4 times from what it was in the Alpha and Beta to what it is now. You used to be able to ride faster and for longer. Blizz claimed their main reason for nerfing the speed was to prevent people from getting to nodes too fast. They could have simply fixed that by making there be a cooldown from when you got off your dragon riding to go farm a node. Like for skinning or mining or anything.

I know they made it turn like a vehicle cause of the races and stuff. But I wish outside of races you could turn insta rather then the delayed turn crap.

For me it’s the whole animation lock and style of movement. It feels slow and clunky compared to the rest of WoW.

Imagine casting a spell then tapping the movement key. The spellcast animation immediately cancels and the player enters the movement animation. With skyriding it doesn’t do this, it waits to complete the animation. So the overall feel is slower and clunkier than regular flight which is snappy (animation canceling).

Wait… I just realised I’m talking to someone who has gained 3 levels in 8 days.

No wonder you are having issues switching to regular flying, you haven’t unlocked it yet. It’s switching you back to skyriding everytime you go to TWW zones.

This is exactly what I do, though. My gatherer alt is a double gatherer and I will spend hours at times hopping from node to node. I still can’t remember the last time I ran out. Specially since each node gives me a free vigor point.

Not saying do not harvest your way. I just prefer the mount so I do not have to recast every time I harvest. I can just swoop down, gather, and go right back up in a fluid motion.

I like sky riding a lot but it’s more for a thematic and exciting flight somewhere than anything precise. Using sandstone drake and having my friends come along, we swoop through gaps in the terrain, fly up so high we get kicked out of the sky and soar inches near the water super duper fast.

It’s a great new feature for wow, with the old option still available it’s even better.

That’s nice, but you aren’t everyone and one vigor doesn’t suddenly math out to always be a full vigor bar when you use two or three to get up to a higher node and another higher node, etc.

Soar is fine as is.

How dare you continue to ad hominem attack my huntard. I’ve been doing these long AVs lately and neglecting leveling. I wanted to actually turn XP off and stay at 70 but they took it away.

Any points related to the topic?

Read the rest of that post you replied to, it was referring to this.

And this.

You haven’t unlocked it yet. It’s switching you back to skyriding

Others in this very thread are saying this is a known bug. Are they wrong or are you? Answer the question Mandieris. The world awaits your reply…

I’m telling you why its switching you back, every time you go into any TWW content, its reverting you back to skyriding because you haven’t unlocked the ability to use regular flying in those zones yet.

You unlock it by completing the story campaign and exploring everywhere in each zone.

Nah, I can be in Org turn off Stupid Flying, turn on Regular Flying, go into a BG and come out and it’s back in Stupid Mode. It just forgets my setting after some loading screens.

Even in the case that it was intentional like you say, it should still remember the player’s setting regardless of where they go.

Btw, does my avatar show me as 70 here? It’s weird because I’m 73 and (as you pointed out) have been over 70 for days now, wonder why this isn’t updating.

Skyriding/steady flight is like manual/automatic drive in vehicles.

I prefer not to be involved in the ‘full driving experience’ so choose automatics.

Yeah its 70 here, 73 on armory.

But yeah once you finish story campaign and explore, it will stop switching you. My hunter has been on regular flying mode for weeks.

I’ve been in multiple dungeons, delves, bgs and even BrD and it has never switched me back to skyriding.

I would consider it the other way around:

  • Regular flight is “manual”
  • Skyriding is “automatic” that is leaking transmission fluid and loses its torque after a while

That is fine too. I have zero strong feelings on it. I think the cooldown is a little silly and that the free vigor point is moot, but beyond that I am just happy it is functional now compared to how it used to be. If they change it I would be fine with that, but if they just kept it the way it is now for all eternity I am fine with that too.

I wish they’d make OG flying faster.

They did this already. 410%? 420%? can’t remember the exact number but its in the 400’s now.

Steady flight is automatic…I just need 1 button to move forward.

Skyriding I need to pay attention to the environment, angle of flight, vigor, etc.
