Skyriding is soo stupid lmao

The exact kind of post I refer to. Make points instead of just laughing like it’s so ridiculous of an argument you can’t even entertain it. Many many people agree with what I’m saying. Skyriding is:

I. Buggy

You cannot permanently disable it. It re-enables later, usually upon zoning.

Few mounts have animations for skyriding, looks ridiculous (especially horse mounts).

Other players appear to skip across the map because the socket tick interval is not as fast as a player’s positional changes anymore (it likely couldn’t be without costing a lot of money).

II. Does not fit with WoW

Lacks animation canceling like the rest of the game.

Is incompatible with the way the game feels: Not even airplanes made by gnomes fly that way, not zeppelins, or anything else in the game. Everything in the game moves along the XYZ axes in the same way (with the same “easing” so-to-speak) except skyriding.

Now do you have a rebuttal to these points? Anything other than 1/10 trolling and personal attacks? I promise you making a valid point will go way further than your deepest possible dig. Nobody cares about online flexing as much as logical correctness.

I did. Still waiting on a response before I make any more.

You want to know the mod’s reason for changing the title? You would have to ask him, but my guess is he’s unhappy in life, has no real control over anything except this forum and just wanted to discredit/smear information that he disagrees with. A highly dishonest offense IMO but that’s another discussion (moderator culture in general !)

Hitting spacebar every handful of seconds is hard for some people

Hitting the space bar is just unnecessary, should not be like flying a plane , just point and go

100%

It’s fun enough, love the option but it shouldn’t be the default option and maybe shouldn’t be allowed everywhere. Very strange for Blizzard to force this in, it also affects the way you see other players on your screen (they skip now).

only gripe i have with it is vigor

run out and its like “welp ill go make a sandwich and change my laundry while it recharges”

true story i made a ham and swiss samy put my cloths in the dry sat back down and it still had the last orb filling

Skyriding is king

I would definitely use old flying if it went as fast as skyriding, without question.

I kinda miss people just hovering around the cities.

Skyriding > baby brain flying.

Speed is king.

Then don’t use it and use steady flight? Seems like you just wanted to create an imaginary issue cause you have too much time on your hands OP!

The only thing I don’t like about skyriding is the name. It’s one of the best things blizzard has ever added to the game and I’m never going back to slow flying.

I do have too much time on my hands, but skyriding is also buggy, off-brand, and gimmicky.

If it were not the default then fine, I would grind it out like I did the pathfinder of old, but losing it everywhere would suck. Old flying feels terrible now. I find it straight up unpleasant and boring to use. Going back to having to use that everywhere would suck.

Thankfully I won’t have to as skyriding is here to stay.

I liked even though I disagree-

I would not like it removed, it’s fun enough, and I love the option. It feels like a supercharged version of the Goblin Glider. It’s a fun gimmick.

But old flying feels better, more like the rest of the game. Some people want old flying buffed in speed, I don’t even want that, I think it’s perfect as-is, I would just want it to be the default. Maybe a slight flight speed increase at level cap as in previous expansions? But nothing crazy, I don’t think we need the ability to fly extremely fast - there are faster forms of travel like teleport and zeppelins (which by the way, despite being flying machines with engines do not move like skyriding, they move like everything else in the game).

Whew, well, it’s a good thing old crusty flying still exists for folks like you, eh?

It is not even the fast part that I like. I like the variable speed of it. I like that I can speed up in a dive, or flap forward in a burst. I like the moments where I am flying along at a slower speed and I flap up quickly to evade a cliff and start zooming in the air. It feels like playing in the air, and it is fun. Skyriding is legitimately my favourite thing they have ever added to the game.

Old flight just feels like punishment to me now when I use it. Same speed whether you go up or down. I get none of that sense of play or weight that I do with skyriding. :frowning:

The title is a bit… oof… but I have to agree, I don’t really like skyriding that much.

I would like a means of quickly changing on the fly, as in being able to bind a steady-flight mount and a skyriding-flight mount to separate hotkeys.

The problem is that steady flight is just way more practical and easy to use, and FAR more convenient for just bouncing around relatively small spaces.

Also, I think “Skyriding” is a terrible name, personally. I would use the terms “Classic” and “Dynamic” flight styles.

Do you feel this is missing from ground mounts? E.g. if you ran down a hill on a ground mount should it look/feel like it (like you mention here with skyriding)?

Would you want that same physics for the character itself? To be able to run at variable speeds, and for the game to complete each animation rather than canceling it when you press another key?

To me, it’s getting into the physics of some other engine - why ruin WoW’s amazing controls with this stuff? We have things like Goblin Glider, to me the Skyriding should be limited in use the way that is, because it’s not really the way the controls work anywhere else. Even gnomish airplanes don’t look like that.

Actually, I would love dynamic ground mounts. I have long argued for more interesting mounts in games ever since GW2 introduced their mounts. WoW just copied their griffon and skyscale first (smushed em together). Now if we could copy their other mounts and give our ground mounts in WoW some unique interations, well, I would be over the moon.

If you do not like skyriding then fine, do not use it. Ask them to fix whatever bug keeps switching you out of it. Those of us who like it are glad it is here to stay though, and are happy for it.

i think its the limited turn radius instead of responsive instant feedback.
it does feel kinda clunky to me compared to the crisp movement when not skyriding.

i still prefer skyriding because speed is the prio
(if steady flight had same speed i’d def use that.)
