Oh no, we are far more geared relative to those prior seasons you’re harkening back to. Rather, when you did have the one extra week of M0, you had 8 dungeons of loot chance, one time per boss. M+ in those eras released in the second week and capped loot at M+10 ilvls and we had the raid unlocks on that week. And on the week of mythic raid, we had uncapped M+
By comparison, you effectively traded:
- Being able to do one world tour at old MP loot levels
for
- Being able to world tour daily for the then equivalent of M+10 loot levels, with Heroic Dungeons giving you the equivalent of old M0 loot levels.
In essence, the current expac had you able to do the equivalent of old M0 ilvl gear on demand, and via queue, as a result of the pivot. How are you going to argue that one world tour under the old system, IE doing one of each heroic once under the new system, is better than being able to run as many as you wanted?
Like, if you only chose to do 8 or less dungeons via heroic queues, then you were gearing at the same rate as the old system. If you did 9 or more, you saw gearing to higher ilvls more quickly.
If you did M+10s on week 2 until fully kitted, your best case gearing is at least 7 dungeons, assuming you manage to get a unique slotted piece every run AND you had someone able to trade the other pieces such that they were also unique to you
By contrast, running the same number of dungeons as the old best case has you seeing +1 or +2 items per run more, and it isn’t until run #8 that you would reach the daily limit for new M0s. If you did 8 dungeons daily, you were able to see 16 drops on week 2 of the old system, versus at least 24; that’s a 50% increase in loot chances!
On the first day of the raid unlock, most people weren’t even close to doing +10s or seeing comparable loot, despite having it available. And even if you did spam it nonstop, at best, you would have been starting Mythic raid week at a 12 or higher key, anyways, if you pushed.
Instead, it was possible to
