Rats and cats operate on the same logic when it comes to boxes. Big fancy toy or bed? Nah nah nah. The box it came in? Ah hell yeah!

We have found that the cat furniture cats like best is those large plastic-wrapped bundles of toilet paper or paper towels. They just love those.
