PuG literally means “Pick-Up Group”. So PuG PvPer’s are grouped PvPers, just with slightly less organization than a guild “Premade”.
There are “PuG” Molten Core raids, many even use voice comms. A Pick-up Group with voice comms should absolutely be competitive against a premade. Antisocial behavior should not be encouraged.
Really? lol Having friends is the same as a premade? Not even close. Recruiting randos won’t be comparable either. I guess if everyone joins PvP guilds, dropping their RP or PvE guilds just to compete in BGs, sure…
In the context of PvP battlegrounds and what I was saying, pug means you’re not part of a premade when you zone into the bg. After you enter the bg, you’re automatically added to the “pick-up group” of random players (i.e. your team).
Literally everyone that has access to WoW also has access to Discord. There are many tools to help PuGs organize and compete both in-game and via third-party services like Discord.
If you’re too lazy to use LFG, if you’re too lazy to hop in discord with your realm-mates, if you’re too lazy to work together in a team - then you’re already a loser. Guilds have nothing to do with it. You are allowed to make friends and form connections with those outside of your guild. Most of the roam groups I join are “PuGs” and we regularly crush “Premade” guild groups of alli. And I’m not even 60.
Pretty sure the matchmaker already favors this. That’s why we had a lot of queue dodging going on in premade honor farming teams.
Back in Vanilla, we even went as far as queue syncing while not grouped up so that we’d all get in the same bg, but not be counted as a premade by the system. That got largely broken by cross realm bgs.
Do you even play Classic? Last I checked lvl 120 space goats were not relevant here.
Do you think not putting a minimum amount of effort into ANYTHING qualifies you in any way as a “winner”? Or even someone who is deserving of success?
Yes.
Then why are you responding to me?
Obviously, go after my forum posting toon because it changes what I’m saying.
The only time it makes sense to fight a premade vs a pug, is if the pug team got lucky with all geared and skilled players. This is pretty rare.
Because that’s how conversation works. I’m actually trying to be constructive here by explaining the mindset that went into these older games that were actually intended to be social experiences as much as RPGs.
Oh, I’m sorry - should you not be required to establish credibility or relevance? I forgot you were excluded from the same social conventions as the rest of us. My apologies.
Social people would be able to interact with all the random players on their bg teams. They welcome these social experiences.
They wouldn’t limit themselves to the same couple of players in their premades.
Every day I interact with the random players on my realm. This very morning I formed a “PuG” for roaming PvP with 4 other players I had never met before, and we swept the zone. I do this every day. This is one of the main reasons I play MMOs. Now how about you post on your classic toon. There’s obviously a reason you’re hiding behind a retail avatar.
I don’t feel like changing my forum posting toon.
Or making an intelligent argument. You’re not even the best troll in this thread.
Yet, you’re the one resorting to insults.
“Do you think not putting a minimum amount of effort into ANYTHING qualifies you in any way as a “winner”? Or even someone who is deserving of success?”
So you don’t have an answer to this?
You seem to place a lot of emphasis on labeling people as “winners” or “losers.”
You seem to place a lot of emphasis on dodging questions. Your answer?
Players should be able to queue up for bgs.
They shouldn’t feel obligated to join a premade because it’s become a de facto requirement for victory.
