Should SV go back to range?

“Reading comprehension”

He specifically named MM and BM as being enough for ranged. He didn’t say that MM, BM, frost, fire, arcane, affliction, destruction… …balance, elemental and shadow are enough for ranged. Therefore, using logic, we can deduce that he wasn’t referring to all ranged specs. He was referring to specs that used ranged weapons.

Probably because we aren’t just talking about ‘ranged and melee’. We are talking about a specific comment that was made in a specific context and contained more words than just ‘ranged and melee’.

Let’s start over though. Under which circumstance is it logical to claim that BM and MM are enough for ranged?

Are they enough for the Hunter class? Well then by that exact same logic all other pures should have one of their specs deleted and replaced with something completely new. Replace assassination with a caster DPS spec. Replace affliction with a tanking spec. Replace fire with a healing spec. Makes just as much sense.

Or are they enough for the entire game? That just MM and BM (since those were the two specs cited as being ‘enough for ranged’) are sufficient for all ranged weapon using specs? That is also ridiculous because, as before mentioned, there are a TON more melee weapon specs. Why would a mere two ranged weapon specs be ‘enough’?

Nope.

And until those who do rudely keep pushing the topic get that through their thick skulls it will remain in the garbage.

Actually if nothing is said Blizzard may assume we are ok with RSV being gone and they will be LESS likely to return it. I would wager that the frequent lament about the loss of 2H Frost DK is a big part of what has brought it back. Not to mention the beginnings of the return to class abilities instead of the hyper-focus on specs.

you can get arcane shot back in shadowlands and use a bow i believe in sl so in a sense dv can be ranged again in sl.

Except that wasnt just here, everywhere. To add, it is a much simpler thing to add in a game than a whole new spec. They had thousands of ppl spamming it. SV, you have some that post about it, the same 3 hardcore crusader being toxic in every threads and thats it. Most people moved on and / or actually love the recent SV.

RSV isn’t a whole new spec. I would wager they still have the data for it from past expansions. It isn’t like they are starting from scratch.

Also, I play a DK. I have seen the threads and I can tell you that certain people were treating those that posted about returning 2H Frost the same way as you are treating those that want RSV returned.

Finally, there may be only three main posters that post about returning RSV, that doesn’t mean that they are the only ones that want it back.

I would be 4th or 5th then but numbers on forums dont represent the numbers in game, the silent majority. Just because only handful people are trying their hardest to keep up hope it dont mean their only ones. I left sv and went bm and elemental, two hunter buddies of mine quit in end of wod. I miss them cause we were always bouncing ideas and comparing the black arrow tick to procs etc.

Saying that you can have the same playstyle that RSV had with MM talents is incredibly ignorant.

Serpent Sting is missing all of the synergy that it used to have. It automatically refreshed via Cobra Shot that hit your target and it would spread with Multi-Shot. Explosive shot was a DoT, not, wait 3 seconds for disappointing damage every 30 seconds. Lock and Load gave you 2 instant free charges of your main damaging ability not 1.

What is most disappointing is that Blizzard is most likely going to see people not taking these talents and use that as justification that people didn’t like RSV instead of admitting that they either made a mistake by getting rid of RSV or not going far enough with these talent to play like RSV.

They can actually make both the MM and RSV playstyles fit in the MM spec but they need to make changes like LnL and Serpent Sting baseline and putting Serpent Spread and Black Arrow in the talent tree, reverting the changes to Explosive Shot and having it be how it was pre-legion and having it replace Aimed Shot when selected as a talent. Trueshot would add an extra tick of damage when Explosive Shot is selected since Explosive Shot doesn’t have a cast time. Give Cobra Shot’s Serpent Sting refresh to Arcane Shot. That way they can actually have most of RSV in MMs spec slot and have players come up with interesting combinations to meld current MM and old RSV.

The thing that really baffles me is why didn’t they just keep RSV and put MSVs playstyle in Demon Hunter? DHs have 2 specs so it would have been fine if they got MSV as their third spec and they would have gotten a lot of feedback since DH is the newest class.

Another one of these threads zZzZzz

Some people like it; some don’t. Can we change the channel please.

Instead of giving up on the spec, I think discussion should lean towards suggestions on how to make the spec “work” better. Mongoose Fury could use some adjustments, along with the role Serpent Sting plays in the rotation. Would also be nice to get a “good” version of Flanking Strike back into the spec baseline (instead of a talent that has to compete with Mongoose Bite and Tip of the Spear).

Reading some of the Alpha comments, it’s starting to look like they might be considering returning SV to ranged. People are very confused why they have ranged abilities. It’s starting to look like a positive change.

Unfortunately, what they are probably doing is changing it so that is satisfies both ranged and melee play-styles. If that’s the case, then they are basically ignoring both the ranged and the melee complaints, and they are going to screw up the spec for everybody.

If you read my entire comment instead of merely extrapolating the part that you want to attack you’ll see that I had just expressed my “original thinking” in the previous sentence.

And I’ll say to you the same I said to Bepples… ad hominem attacks don’t do your argument any favors.

but saying someone needs to defend blizz throws the entirety of what you said prior into question.

“edit for telchaar since he can’t be bothered to read posts” ----> like i said, if you actually believe that, great for you.

i don’t and think survival is a mess. but saying that someone NEEDS to defend blizz, this makes you look like you are only defending them on some moral code and not on whether or not you actually enjoy the game. i only said what i said because you made your own argument possibly invalid in the eyes of many.

no one NEEDS to defend anything. if you think you NEED to defend something, then you are probably defending it for the wrong reasons. it isn’t my fault that you decided it was a good idea to make your own argument seem like a blizzard fanboi post.

I’d like to see SV get options for both. Like being able to equip both ranged and melee weapons.

I enjoy playing SV, but it’s hard to justify playing MM or SV when BM outdoes both.

I still think they should have made it a tank spec.

Why would any one play enhance when rogues are always better? Or feral or fury or arms or ww? It’s fun having hybrid classes. Feral is fun for the ranged cc. MSV is fun for the range damage it can create. It’s a versatile spec with versatile gameplay. I know this may be crazy but some people enjoy versatility.

I believe that’s just how the depruning is working out. Like arms/fury warriors get shield block and shield slam. They just need to have a shield equipped. Thought you can’t switch in combat. Sooo why did they get those abilities? Same with survival. We did get kill shot which is cool.

K. So first SV was a ranged spec. Then SV was made into an exclusively melee spec. Now SV is being made into a melee/ranged hybrid. What’s next? Making SV into a healing spec that throws healing bombs at people and uses their pet to carry healing potions to them? Why not? I’m sure some people would enjoy that type of spec, therefore that sort of change would be inherently good, right?

If it’s a fun and versatile spec then sure why not? I love current sv I love the felxability of it.
