When a product is so massively successful and popular that it borders on a monopoly, the quality doesn’t really matter anymore. So sales and marketing take over. That’s the emphasis. It’s no longer about building or maintaining a great product; it’s about exploiting the customers you’ve accumulated. Those are the people running the company. The creative designers are kicked to the curb and replaced with BS artists who’s rise in the company is due to milking braindead whales, and cutting costs and corners at every possible chance to do so as cheaply as possible.
The talent at Blizzard is gone. They have very different goals these days, and the people making the big decisions don’t give a damn about quality. They know the fanboys will never leave.

Oh wow, you’re not even econ 101. When a market is flooded with new unearned capital, it’s called glut. The new capital fights over the existing limited resources, in this case consumables, driving up the price. The amount of consumables that would need to be overproduced to drive the cost back down, would have to be relative to the influx of new capital into the market.
So unless there’s an exploit to 10x my production, enjoy your very very expensive raid consumes with your ‘deep bag’ over the next few weeks-months. This oversight has cost the devs the market which they just got back into line after mass bot bannings. If I was microsoft, I would be mad that I’m burning money on fixing issues that become problems less than a month later.

what are you even saying? The people who didnt get in on the gold rewards need to buy all the same stuff as the people who did and currently have 5x more gold.
This exact scenario is what creates pressure for people who dont have time to keep up to RMT.

Theres millions and millions of gold in the market thru bots,rmt and there is gdkps.
I can go do a heroic ICC gdkp and make 20k-50k gold.
Yet raid consumes are 6-8g ea still, becasue of bots.
Also why would i pay 5-7 gold for anything? Just ask a guildmate ? Boom free consumes . Cry more.

WOTLK gold exists because of GDKP’s.
You dont need to like GDKP’s to understand that it does redistribute gold easily and effectively, despite injecting tons of RMT gold. you still have an opportunity to earn that gold and stay relative to the market through legitimate means.
This secnario was effectively a cuttoff where if you missed it, you have no chance at staying relative and are forced into other means if you don’t have the time to farm yourself into relevance.

Rolling back everyone because “some people did something” with the smaller size of subscriber base today would result in a much smaller subscriber base.
Blah blah Blizzard used to… Ya I mean when the game had 12+ Million subs you could afford to lose a few. People that weren’t taking advantage of a certain content would be plenty mad losing all their gains.
They could have done an emergency shutdown as they have before and limited things.

Blizzard long missed the chance at doing any sort of rollback to fix anything about the gold without greater consequences than the initial problem.
If anything, i bet their solution is adding wow tokens to SoD.
