It’s because people get led to old threads by Google, and for whatever reason, Blizzard doesn’t lock old threads here like they do on the EU forums.

A lot of heavy armor was designed to stop blades, but a hammer would still knock the person inside the armor silly.
And in the more fantastic sense, a lot of undead are only annoyed with slashing wounds, but are much worse for wear when bludgeoned and crushed.
So I guess it depends on what you picture the paladin to be fighting against.
