Should a CM be snarky on twitter?

literally

Talk about looking foolish.

To simplify;
If someone receives a benefit from another, regardless of what it is, they are more likely to be more forgiving towards that person.

Now apply that here.

It may not always be the case for every MVP in every situation. But that underlying ingratiation is still there at the core of every response/action.

It’s impossible to discern how small or large the impact of such a deal is, but it’s always there.

So… yeah.

My endgame is effectively based on Titanforging. I don’t mind TF/WF, but I disagree with the uncapped model. My Heroic loot shouldn’t TF to top-tier Mythic loot (425).

I like the idea of getting a good item and moving on to the next piece. Not moving back to the same piece because it didn’t roll +30. Too much RNG soured my experience.

There is no deal, absolutely none.

MVPs are chosen by Blizzard Entertainment (via the MVP program). All you need to become an MVP is a perfect forum record (no bans) and be an active, helpful poster. Then you get marked as such with green text. You may be a general MVP (meaning you’re just helpful in general) or you might have a specialization (MVP of Tech Support or Customer Service) but there’s no reward, there’s no incentive, and there are certainly no rules which require you to post in favor of Activision or Blizzard Entertainment.

If MVPs were beholden to Activision or Blizzard, there would be no critical posts from MVPs at all, and anyone who was critical at any point would no longer be an MVP. Yet we’ve seen multiple posts from MVPs that have called out Blizzard for their behaviour. Hell there was one MVP thread about BFA which called the expansion unfinished and told Blizzard they needed to work on it some more. A thread like that would not exist if MVPs were beholden to Activision/Blizzard.

Tech MVPs are the best MVPs.

All I did was apply (similar to any guild recruitment you’re used to). There were quite a lot of submissions. Depending on your background and experience, you could stand out quite a bit.

We’re actually encouraged not to be shills. Dishonest feedback helps no one.

As a green what controls do you have over the forums? Like can you remove posts?

Are you here during set hours?

Can you pass on posts to developers?

What’s your class/spec currently if you were to play again?

Which class/spec has Blizzard changed so much that you stopped playing it?

It’s novel for me to not be met with scorn and condescension when interacting with a Green so, sincerely, thank you for the real and reasoned response.

I hear and understand your reasons for leaving and they seem to mirror the thoughts/actions of a great number of players.

Seems like you enjoy the perks of having a target on your back.

No control. I have guaranteed TL3 (trust level), but “normal” forum-goers can earn TL3 too.

I’m here when I want to be here.

We have a direct line to the CMs where we can raise issues. There is no direct line to the developers, though. (I am personally friends with some developers and other folks at Blizzard. Those channels are kept private, but trust me when I say everyone has an opinion.)

I was a Blood DK in BFA. Given Moonkin gameplay is spiced up in 9.0 (which I’m pushing for in 9.0), I’ll become a Moonkin main again. It’s not that Blizzard changed the spec too much, it’s that it felt unfinished. It’s not that the spec sucks, it’s just not gameplay I enjoyed, but they did a good job with Azerite Traits and made the spec feel much better after I had moved on.

OK Drax.

Now imagine what those MVPs would have said if they weren’t actively participating in an Activision/Blizzard program.

It’s pretty basic psychology.

I’ve been telling people they have no idea what they’re talking about far before I was a green shill. The green makes a bigger target, but it also means players are more likely to read my posts. My posts, generally speaking, are written in a way that tries to pry more specific arguments/evidence/points/etc. from someone.

When I’m actually trying to get better information, my tone is different.

When I’m telling people to stop whining like little brats, it’s because I find the situation, such as this one (current thread), … to put it nicely… silly.

I can be rude, but you gotta earn that. haha

all i’ve seen is most mvps attack others, post image macros instead of discussing, and in the case of two of them tell others how they should play the game. The program should be the next on the blizzard chopping block as it is neglected and pointless.

The same thing they are saying now, because as multiple MVPs have pointed out, including Cyou, MVPs are encouraged to be critical. There is no requirement to post in favor of Activision or Blizzard.

Do they still have GM island? Can greens go there?

Can you see/ look up things about players characters that isn’t listed in the armory?

that’s just it. Sadly this game’s customization when it comes to end game content is not nearly as much as it looks like it is. There’s nothing more annoying than a player that says things like “don’t tell me how to talent or play my spec”… that’s simply because they will prevent you from progressing. And I used to play however I wanted to talent ect. only to realize that the recommended ones were far better. It’s a balance issue as well as a common sense one.

Not talking about talents. Talking things Like “lfr is trash and should be removed” and everyone should be a raider.

GM Island is real. No. We have no in-game power (Blizzard employees don’t have in-game power as well. Like with any IT job, you need a business reason to have a GM\Admin-enabled account.)

We are the same as you, no special access. But technically, we can post as MVPs on other forums. haha.

You two should move on from this topic. MVPs are players. MVPs are bound by the same rules as you “peasants.”

But really, so long as we aren’t insulting others, it’s about driving constructive feedback. We might sound toxic to some, but in the end, it’s just an opinion. In the general sense of things – all opinions are equal. (Until you start getting into very specific topics, but this is only for the absolute top-tier – literally the 0.1% of the 0.1%.

Fair dues.
I imagine it’s an… interesting path you must walk when you decide to don the green.

Also, can I offer a suggestion regarding the following?

A great many of the players, myself included, a ready feel mocked, derided, ignored and condescended to. From other greens all the way to the top of the food chain.

To call people, that genuinely care about the game whiny brats, or some such, doesn’t really do anything to assuage us of those feelings.

You may find the thread silly, as may others, but some people have put time and thought into what they’ve posted in the (vain?) hope that someone might listen.

To have it disregarded as whining doesn’t really serve anyone.

Empathy, on the other hand, may help.

Just throwing it out there. :slightly_smiling_face:

LFR is whatever at this point and it’s not going away. Though I get the arguments of why it was bad for the game when it was implemented long ago… It doesn’t bother me as someone who played Vanilla then started playing again in Legion.

The problem I see is how Blizzard constantly tries to cater to the most unaware of players while not doing anything to fix the skill floor. There’s people who tried this game, and simply won’t play it because of how much changes it requires to the default settings to be competitive. The default ui and raidframes are inexcusably bad for especially healers… but they keep pruning things and adding to the GCD in hopes of “slowing the game down” when the problem is their default settings are garbage and require complete overhaul when you start the game.

With regards to Lore’s words – unfortunately, I’m not going to budge on that. If you aren’t the player who is calling for developers to be fired each time they make something you dislike, you aren’t the target demographic of his words. And you aren’t the whiny brat I mention.

If people hate raiding Normal+ but love LFR, so be it. I’m glad you enjoy the game. I’m not here to tell you what you should enjoy. But I’ll continue to call out nonsense. Most players are genuinely good people. (Some are butts.)

If you dislike Lore’s words for a different reason, I have no opinion on that and would form one after hearing out your reasons. I still may call it nonsense, but I’m fair and I’m willing to change if your reasons are valid – read: not rooted in nonsense.

With regard to feedback in general. I’m not to argue against an opinion. If you say something we can falsify, but isn’t rooted with malice, I’ll be tactful. Hyperbole and such… no patience for that nonsense.

Sweet Christmas!

I never said there was a requirement. At all. Ever.

I said that when receiving a benefit from someone you’re more likely to temper your criticism towards them.

Now, it’s quite easy for you to say that doesn’t happen but that’s not something you can prove.

Up until now that’s been my experience too.

It’s nice to know that at least one green can be reasonable. :slightly_smiling_face:

It’s a reasonable question, and I would say: No, CMs shouldn’t be snarky on Twitter or anywhere that they are performing professional duties.
