The topic title along with a few other issues have occurred since I started playing in the pre patch. Holding shift while mousing over gear in my bags will not show an item comparison to my currently equipped gear, control left click will not show the item as it would be while equipped, also I cannot shift + right click to socket any of my items.
While playing classic on the other hand the two before mentioned functions work as intended.
Anyone else having this issue? I did open a ticket and followed all of the supports instructions with no change whatsoever. It’s frustrating to say the least.

I just checked using my own account and I can’t see any of those issues.
We have seen reports of UI elements not being interactable, but those have all tended to be a result of addons. Even if they’re turned off, addons can still influence your game.
I’d start by disabling/uninstalling any programs you use to keep your addons updated. Once that is turned off, you can remove the Interface, Cache, and WTF forums from your World of Warcraft/_retail_ folder.
If you do this, and still have trouble then you can file a Bug Report:
I did completely uninstall and delete every addon from the retail folder. including the WTF, cache, and interface folder. I did reset the game settings from the blizzard launcher as well. As far as I’ve seen there isn’t any more interface issues going on.
It’s working as intended for me as well.
Update: okay I figured it out. I reset my keybinds to default and it fixed it. I imagine I changed some binds to correspond with one of my addons and it conflicted with the default keybind setting somehow. Time to re download all my addons and change my settings yet again… sigh.

Next time, just rename your Addon folder so you can rename it back again later with your Addons and settings intact.

Don’t really want to necro this, but it’s the top Google search result, and I think I could save people some trouble.
I checked my bindings-cache.wtf files in the WTF directory (there will be one in you account folder, and one in your player’s folder). These were the lines causing the flyout not to work with the shift key.
I logged out, removed the lines using a text editor, then logged back in.
Everything worked correctly afterward. I could actually find where to set these values in the ‘Interface->Key Bindings’ menus.

Hello i deleted all of my addons and used the link you posted to try to reset the issue. seems that i can not compare with shift or use control click to preview the item on my character. i have no addons and tried the renames and /console cvar_default the link told me to try. nothing worked. if i make a new toon everything works. just this one toon has the issue.
Did u reset ur key bindings like the OP did.
i did. reset keybinds. have 0 addons. reset all settings back to factory as well. i can ctrl click to see on my body only from atlas loot if i download it. but i cant do it from a link. i also cant link items now because of the shift click situation. i dont want to have to delete this toon because i used my boost on it.
On this character, Grantraxius? Or the Human Warrior you are currently logged into?
Did you check your chat window to make sure you didn’t mark it as noninteractive?

currently on the warrior im logged in on. im not sure how to change my active character for the forums. im currently in Honor Hold trying to put gems into the belt from Ramps and am not able to open the gem window. not sure whats going on currently. ive tried everything i could find online.
the chat window is interactive. i cant do anything with the shift+click activity. in bag, in chat, on person (gems for example). this is the only toon im having the issue with. to test that i made a lvl 1 and everything worked as intended.
Try shift right click and see if that works.
ive tried this as well to see if maybe somehow it became flipped but that doesnt work. cant seem to find anywhere where the issue has persisted past the suggested fix above. im torn on it because i dont really have to inspect the item on my person but not being able to hover compare in chat or link things in chat is a huge pain.
When you reset your keybindings, how did you do it?
I ask because I just tried on your character and that seems to have fixed the shift issue, so I’m wondering if whatever you did actually reset your bindings when you did it.
I tried to keep the keys you were using the same, but I may have missed something. Give it a try.

sorry for the late response, i went into the keybindinds menu and in the bottom left i hit the default button. ill log on now and give it a shot to see if it worked and get back with you promptly. Thank you
Hmm, did you have to rebind the keys you use for those three abilities on your main hotbar? I’m wondering if maybe the option didn’t go through. In either case, hopefully this worked for you and your character options will be back to normal.
