Isn’t this the point of Classic? To create that deviation from what modern WoW (and other games) has evolved to-- a thing, that by and large, requires little social interaction; has an auto-pilot button, and a weakened sense of community? I want to play Classic to get away from all of these things.
you seem to fail to grasp that this add on is counteractive to community. You seem to not understand that I for one, and probably others do not want to see chat spammed by an automated message every damn minute. You seem to not understand that I do not want to use this add on. You seem to not understand that I will be forced to use this add on because it will silence ordinary players interactions. Parsing, layers, I could care less. This is a world wide add on spamming crap every min. It takes lots of information and puts it in one spot for people to use. Information that a single player wanting to join a group would not have. So game breaking. This is an advantage over a person that does not want that. You are creating Borg, the hive mind.
Same here, man. I hope to get rid of it, but there are more people here fighting for it than I expected.
Its just a couple people that are dedicated to defending this. Throughout about 6 other threads its the same 4 or 5 people.
BFA is there for them with their LFG
I have a question: Is this the only place that we can have our feelings shown on this subject? Are there other ways to interact with blizzard other than this to show our feelings on this?
It doesn’t port you into the dungeon or even outside of it so it doesn’t matter.
Totally agree. I was looking through a list of available classic add-ons this week and came across this and was livid. This specific type of LFG add-on is one of the main things I want banned from available use by Blizz. I’m not anti-add ons. Itemrack (by way of example) was a go to for me in classic (it’s not being updated for use but there are similar ones) that no impact on the social aspects of the game and frankly just cut back on down time. I’m fine with stuff like that, although I think Atlas is pushing it by not making you discover areas on your own…but I’m less critical about it than I am LFG. It needs to be banned.
You could probably get Alex Jones to take this up with you
“Groups created using ClassicLFG are visible to all players using it on the Realm.”
It’s doing more than just parsing chat. The above quote was not mentioned in the CallToArms addon, which did seem to just parse the chat and put it all in one place. This addon will be communicating with other instances of itself and will eventually replace the chat as a means of forming groups if enough people use it.
I think this alone will lead to it being banned.
The wait time in iron forge forces you to socialized thus forming the long lasting relationship you have now. By making people go to a city hub and forcing them to look for a group it force them to be kind and cordial and perhaps something would click…like a tinder match.
The lfg addon negates all of that socializing aspect so all you need to do is wait for group to form while you are out incthe world.
If I could, I would give you all my likes!
Waiting is when you work on fishing and your other professions, then they seem effortless.
I’m totally against it but i think that Blizzard can’t ban it even it they would want to.
They would have to break the reading chat functionality or the shared channel of the addons, which is gonna break others addons.
If there was an add-on that sorted LFG messages in /local /trade and /LFG and condensed them into another channel, would that be so wrong?
Note that it doesn’t do anything else, doesn’t auto invite, doesn’t teleport, doesnt do anything else.
It simply collects LFG messages and consolidates them in one channel so that you don’t have to scroll past all the other spam that clogs channels. You still have to whisper the poster for invites.
Would that really be “game-breaking”
No. But it has the letters LFG in it, so take out your pitchfork.
It’s doing more than just parsing chat. This addon will be communicating with other instances of itself and will eventually replace the chat as a means of forming groups if enough people use it.
Because it can communicate with other instances of itself this is basically the LFG functionality that was added in 2.0.
It’s doing more than just organizing the chat for you. You will simply be able to open the addon and see the groups of any person who has the addon, regardless of whether or not they advertised in chat.
Good thing Blizzard does and stated that “not using them if u dont like them” mentallity is BS and those kinds of add ons sinply will not be allowed in the game. Soooktnxbai!
Yep, here is the image.
