Shaman tanks

Nope. It add 72 TPS, scaling appropriately with weapon speed before haste buffs/procs, and applies no threat on miss/dodge/parry/fully blocked attacks. It applies no bonus threat to spells of any kind.

We had a shaman tank for onyxia in p3 when the war tank had trouble getting aggro back, we manaed to keep the shaman alive until the boss had died. Probably the best day of that shaman’s life.

Again hidden stat that doesnt show on tool tip.

Again, you can keep saying that but that isn’t how Rockbiter works. It applies no bonus threat to spells, only melee attacks. I had originally thought it added the 72 static threat on a per swing basis, thereby favoring daggers and such, but it actually scales appropriately with weapon speed to always come out to 72 TPS whether you’re using a fast dagger or a slow mace.

Otherwise there are no other threat bonuses added.

Shaman tanks are great! Rogue tank, hunter pet tank, drunk tank is all a ok with me as long as I dont have to do it

what logs, who was tanking, what gearsets? what gearsets are you comparing them against?

Unfortunately no, no hidden stat. You can increase it with attack speed buffs though. This is why we transition into spell power. Lightning shield is a great threat tool, as well as earth shock which rarely resists against low nature resist enemies. On something like golemagg it’s a cointoss, but he’s the only nature resistant boss in P1. (besides rend, but he’s not a raid boss, nor is he difficult even w/ resist)

Any thus far provided. The gear is typically on the log as well so most of the gearing question is solved then and there. A Druid rocking Truestrike Shoulders has sacrificed a ton of EH for threat, but it totally fine to do so.

By this definition, every class can tank except mages? You’re also failing to mention the gear, patch, etc… and that some become viable over time.

If you aren’t capable of being viable at the time of dealing with the boss for the first time, you aren’t a viable Tank. If you need Nef gear to handle Broodlord, you’re not a viable Tank for Broodlord.

By that definition then Shaman Tanks are MC viable

Maybe not an optimal tank, but maybe we have different ideas of what viable is. 8.5-9k hp & 13k armor should be enough for broodlord. I generate plenty of threat w/ that set too and no pvp gear. Guess we’ll find out come february when we finally learn what true vanilla broodlord was like. I’ll post a vid whether we down or not and we can look at it together

Can it be done, yup.

Do I want to sacrifice heals to keep your squishy but up, no. That extra mana would be better spent keeping the dps classes up.

You’re a detriment to the group and your slot can be easily filled. I’m taking a druid over a “tank” shaman every time, hands down.

Oh for sure. I’d imagine Shaman can do many of the BWL bosses, even Nef, but Broodlord really is the EH gatekeeper. If you can actually achieve 8.5-9k Health and 13k Armor for Broodlord, that should be about as good as you’re going to get it.

Just remember, you do NOT want to Tank Vael if you plan on relying on any World Buffs to get the job done. Burning Adrenaline forces a death.

are you talking about a fury tank

Thanks for the tip homie

I feel the same way about fury tanks, not my call though.

well, the point behind fury warriors is that the major bottleneck is threat a tank can generate, not healing… more threat = more damage the DPS can do = shorter fights = much faster runs. Shaman tanks live somewhere inbetween fury wars & prot wars for both mitigation and threat.

It does, a slew of inconsistent info that doesn’t prove anything for anyone.

I’d luv to see this inconsistency. My job is not to convince anyone, I am not going down that route when most people don’t even acknowledge paladins as tanks, regardless of the massive amount of positive data out there.

What good does any of your work do then? If you’re only preaching to the choir of like-minded folks, why bother to create any sort of public resources at all?

If you aren’t at all interested in pleading your own position, convincing others, expanding acceptance, etc, I’m really not sure what to make of it. Given the false bravado in the guides you create, it almost looks like you’d rather people NOT try out alternate specs, for the sake of keeping it rare and niche and “special.”

shammy tanks are not a thing. Any real dps will rip aggro off them in seconds, even after waiting for them. They can tank lower level 5 mans, and other than that, they are just fake tanks. A druid is better in any 5 man, and a warrior is better than anything above them in any content. Their threat gen is crigity crap son
