I heard about that bug, but using a consumable every single pull does not constitute intented threat generation. With that logic any class is a tank with enough invulnerability potions to pop.
You don’t have to use a consumable…can just spam 5 min kings on ur self max threat genration on like 5+ targets or something assuming no perfect cleave
It doesn’t scale down no matter how many enemies on table
I was referring to the gbok needing a candle. This is clearly a bug because the tool tip mentions nothing about threat generation, where earth shock says it in the tooltip. But if it work, no shame in your game for using it!
Yea my understanding was only wisdom tics should be generating threat via blessings.
But freedom and kings generate a noticeable amount, maybe the others i haven’t tested. Maybe this is blizzlike idk
In 5 mans i almost never greater bless
For Horde
14-30 Shamans Make the best Tanks as Snap aggro is all that matters
30-50 Druids Make the best tanks as there mitigation is not rage dependant
50-60 Warriors due to Mitigation, class abilities and gear aquisition
For Alliance
14-50 Druid
50-60 Warrior
Paladins never become better tanks than druids or Warriors and they dont have early lvl 14-30 Shaman snap threat either, however due to blessings they are perfectly viable tanks from 14-60 and fall off dramatically once raiding.
Paladins and Shaman are on the same level as far as raid tanking in MC goes, with a properly geared and specced Druid pulling ahead ever so slightly. Of course, warrior is king, but only if they’re not wearing leather like a pleb. However, as always, skill can pull any class over another, the reality is that there are SO many retarded warrior tanks playing the game, I can’t even recall the number of times a healer has preferred me as a shaman tank over most warrior ‘tanks’.
One of the world’s best warrior’s, Skarm, discusses the viability of shaman tank:
First of all you can’t parry with the weapon he’s using on the shaman, he clearly doesn’t know what he’s talking about when it comes to that class. Nuff’ said
at most you’d just assign an extra healer of your 40 man roster…People who say it CAN’T be done are crazy.
You can have a voidwalker tank a lot in a 40 man lol
Would just be a giant waste of mana and globals
You can parry with fist weapons equipped. Unless there’s something special about that specific weapon?
Poor ‘proof’. The shaman in that video is the OT, and almost is never tanking more than 1 mob at a time very effectively. They also wipe on Rend and Drakk; and in both boss fights the shaman OT took silly amounts of damage…
This video shows if the group works to accommodate a shaman tank with lots of CC it can work on trash but their damage mitigation on bosses will still be terrible. Even if it can be done everything about this can be done better by a warrior or druid tank; a warrior could do better without even a single point in prot. I wouldn’t want to group with a shaman tank based on this video just to satisfy someone’s eccentric desire to tank as a shaman. A single warrior, even fury/arms spec, can solo tank UBRS as long as someone kites Drakk. I don’t see how a shaman tank would be capable of it without needing another tank to help them. So shaman’s can only OT in UBRS when an OT is not even truly desirable at all…
Players also do more damage now which will make it harder for the shamans to hold aggro without the multiple taunt tools warriors have.
I did some BRD Emp runs with a Shaman tank and no issues healing them.
But imagine waiting for the tank to get mana after every pull
You’re wrong. I’ve solo tanked all the way through Rend without CC, and only needed an OT for the final few pulls and Drakk. You had a bad experience with a shaman tank. If you scroll up, you’ll also find logs I linked for an MC run I was tanking in, where i mitigate more damage than all the other tanks save the deep prot spec warrior. All while in blues.
I’ve done the ubrs clear multiple times, if you don’t believe me you’re welcome to make a toon On Fairbanks and ask my guild mates.
There are ways around this, both mana pots and equipping an mp5/spirit set between pulls work expertly. If you do both, you can probably chain pull the whole instance, but mana pits get expensive. With equipping my mp5/spirit set between pulls I can limit the run to mana breaks every 3 to 4 pulls, which is fairly standard for a pally tank in tbc.
Parry with fist weapons was technically changed in 1.6 but it has been reported by mainly warrior tanks using eskhandars right claw that they could not parry
Well I’m not sure if that specific item is bugged, but you can definitely parry with other fist weapons.
To be fair, if it hadn’t been reported that Esk can’t parry I’d be using it on my shaman tank right now. The synergy with flurry would make it bis for threat generation. I haven’t been willing to chance it, as taking out 6% + parry and taking a weapon from a potential dps in my guild isn’t worth the gamble when so many have reported it doesn’t parry
Do you have the weapon? It should only take about 15 seconds to verify whether or not it’s working.
Nope, I’ve always passed on it because of the reports.
you can 4 man rend on this patch very easily without MC gear
they’re just bad the video means nothing at all
10 man you can make a shaman tank work except maybe drekk.
