Shaman Talent Trees

I should caveat my statement by saying looking at the tree, as someone who hasn’t played shaman since Legion, it doesn’t make me want to reroll one. Meanwhile, I’m giving serious thoughts to changing to MM which is a spec I’ve never really found all that enjoyable before.

I’d recommend you take another look through, the interactions in there are fantastic

I’m hyped. I guess you just don’t know the class. Being able to play with Ascendance and Doomwinds and also get wolf bones and splintered elements is nuts.

I’m definitely not familiar enough with shaman anymore to see the hype, but I leave it to the mains on this one!

Ya’ll are insane. G.D. forums will never be satisfied with anything.

Shaman Class forum - largetly pleased.
Shaman Class discord - hyped about shaman trees.
Pro level players - these are the best trees so far.
G.D. discussion – always negative…

Everyone I’ve talked to is hype about the shaman tree including myself. There are a few little bumps and bruises here and there, but overall as a first attempt - it’s lit.

If you don’t like the talent trees, really ask yourself if you decided you weren’t going to like before you even looked. Ask yourself to define what a good tree would be. Define things like “meaningful choices” in a concrete measurable way.

Seems like most people hating the Shaman tree are Enhance Shamans that wanted Chain Harvest, few Resto shamans but mostly Enhance.

Like the trees are pretty good. Could Enhance have gotten Chain Harvest and Primordial wave in the Main Tree? Sure but overall the trees are letting Shamans get a lot of stuff we wouldn’t normally have or try builds with different strengths without giving up too much in other areas.

Some of the talents are going to be boring, news flash from the past many of the talents were boring stat increases. Its not a surprise when a few nodes are going to be filler ones, but no where near as many are that now. You get so many of the Shadowlands powers at once as well as doubling up on several talents we currently choose from, how is this bad???

Totally, agree. Well said.

Primal Wave is, by a country mile, my least favorite cov ability. A little bit bummed that it’s taking up real-estate on all 3 spec trees. And I’m going to be leading the campaign to get Chains of Devastation added to the tree.

… but those are minor complaints. I feel there are plenty of choices for me outside of PWave. That’s what a talent tree is

The class tree is actually the best i’ve seen yet. Massive unprune along with options for defensives, mobility, and CC some or all specs never had access to.

Shaman is one of my favorite classes so I hope they give it a lot of love in DF.

They can fix this by making primordial wave a two choice talent like other trees. The choice between that and chain harvest would be nice. And not double dip.
The second modifying talent could be the covenant legendary modifier abilities. Like for chain harvest adding riptides and flameshocks to all targets and crits from those spells reducing the cd. So we have choices to choose how we want to stat into.

Also chain harvest has a pretty good visual design. I would hate to never see it again.

Chain Harvest is also one of the best spells we ever had to spend maelstrom on. Lightning bolt and chain lighting get a little old sometimes. And they haven’t given it a special buff when it’s empowered.

Chain harvest is not sorely missed.

Theres a talent to make maelstrom spenders use up to 10 points. Thats your new CH.

Heres a few scenarios.

Flame shock->Lava Lash spread->Prim Wave->10 point spender onto 5 people/mobs/Chain lightning hits everything in sight twice or more->30% haste buff from Prim Wave->Doom Winds → stack maelstrom fast from haste->10 point LvB

Or Flame Shock ->10 point LvB

This is absolutely 10 times better than Chain Harvest. You dont have to wait on a cooldwn and you have on demand Maelstrom generation or better control with changes in DF. You have hard hitting spenders more often without the name “chain harvest”

Dude,

The fire builds on enh/ele are nuts.

I’m so pumped if they keep this as is or close as possible. Just dont pollute this with vesper/chain harvest at all. (I dont say fae transfusion because its just a garbage spell that is dead.)

The amount of cleave/maelstrom gen from flame shock and prim wave is nuts. Burst windows and just regular damage are going to be great.

Cant wait

Chain Harvest has a cool visual, is both a heal and burst dps cd. And overall more appealing then Primordial Wave.

Although I do like using Primordial Wave in Torgast runs and sometimes Mythic plus, overall I prefer chain harvest and would like that as option. And keep that sweet visual.

The lava actuators build can both be used well with necro, night fae, and venthyr right now. Honestly I sort of wish that talent row had those 3 options with the 2nd one modifying the covenant abilities because they are pretty sweet.

Chain Harvest Though is my favorite covenant ability on my shaman.

The idea is that you still have chain harvest damage wise but with more depth and use.

As a stand alone ability, its just another mongo hit button, button do thing ability.

Ask for a glyph to turn chain lightning red.

I understand preference, just don’t agree with it.

cheers

Idk, Have you SEEN the top tier Doom WoW has delivered in the last 4 years?

Out of all the covenant abilities primordial wave is the most boring. It’s a mistake keeping it.

Stormkeeper is on there twice by the way, shows how much thought they are putting into these trees lol

Does it reduce the GCD on them? Tooltip just says CD so I assumed it only meant ability CDs.
