Shadowlands is going to be full of time gated borrowed power. Time gated content. Time gated mounts and rewards. Time gated RENOWN. Time gated Pathfinder. The balance will be horrible. The grinds will be endless.

Maybe, instead of an expansion, we need a new MMORPG. With more emphasis on the RPG part.
I keep coming back to this game, but each time is shorter than the last.

What part are you saying is going to be time gated? The fact that you are being forced to go into a linear campaign? Or that fact that you’re having to wait till the end game content to do all the cool stuff.

How exactly are you defining “RPG”? It sounds like players will be getting one choice at the beginning of the expansion, choose 1 of 4, all of which will have major drawbacks, then the entire rest of the expansion with be on rails with no further “meaningful” choices to be made.
Renown is time gated.
Conduits are time gated
Patch by patch power ceiling changes are also dumb
Time gated pathfinder
Time gated Mounts and rewards
Time gated everything
People who want to have fun are no longer the target demographic. People who are willing to submit to endless grinds for little or no rewards are.

Some of us are very excited for SL for other reasons as well. The new mounts, zones, storylines, armor, pets—there are tons of reasons to be excited.
Warlords was a great expansion for PvP. Like many who didn’t hang out in the forum and copycat others who liked to feel edgy for trashing Ashran, I played it fulltime, got all the achievements, geared up 17 100’s in full conquest gear (that still worked until they nerfed it in Legion), and capped 3 for season 3.
If you hate the game, don’t play. If you can’t stand that others have fun doing stuff you are too good to do, that’s a you problem.

Imagine saying Warlords of Draenor was great and Legion was terrible and expecting the rest of the community or Blizzard to take your opinion seriously.
