M+ shouldn’t be treated as a tool for raiders to fill in gaps in their gear, it should be it’s own thing. Lvl 15 keys should drop Heroic raid gear with the weekly chest giving a single piece of Mythic level gear if you did a 15, exactly like it was in BfA.
Both raiding and dungeons should be equal and viable pathways to gearing. If people want to do both each week and invest that much time in the game for more rewards, let them. It’s stupid to hobble one just so the very top tier of players doing the other one don’t feel pressured to do both.
Are you sure your actually reading what I am saying and not confusing it for what someone else is?
I said that the templates could have worked if they were customizable. The reason why power growth in legion felt so flat from season to season was because of a multitude of factors.
They worked on changing them in BFA but there was a million other problems with BFA PvP. Like the fact that abilities were modified on a per spell basis (feels bad) and nothing really said so.
You mean that you felt there was no power growth during legion during each patch? Again thats not exactly the templates fault and instead was because of their decision on controlling player scaling.
The template in legion was that you literally were given a set of base stats. Did i say that I wanted a non customizable template? No I said the opposite. I would have liked to see specs get their base stats pushed in one direction of another to help balance them and then let gear fall on top of that to provide player customization.
We can agree to disagree on this one. Just remember that when gear is @ the 50% mark you can easily create situations where you can right click someone and chase them and auto them to death while when its closer to the 25% marker you are actually required to make an effort.
You would still feel that same power boost in a template system that doesn’t control how everything scales?
Like I said previously, closer to the top of what I’ve written in this thread, decent gear in shadow lands REQUIRES rating if you want the pvp stuff. Anything that is grind-able in PvP is quite literally trash in comparison to the rewards other types of gearing can provide. I assumed you knew that considering its in a few posts further up. Personally I don’t care what system they use to distribute the loot as long as its not tethered to rating. Tethering the good gear in PvP to rating doesn’t work. Blizzard even commented on it when they pulled the rating reqs before. A badge guy that allows you to grind out a full set of pvp gear over several weeks would be more than fine in my book.
All I have really said is that as it stands the system is heavily flawed and only favors the people who do treat PvP as a playground to show off their mythic raid gear and not something that has a real path to gearing for.
Except anyone who was actually serious about pushing keys, since M+ inception, has always been a mythic raider, wearing mythic raid gear.
M+ has literally never been “its own thing” but I sure would like it to be. Now in SL with the ilvl for dungeon drops even lower, this will only be exacerbated as it will take a M+ player 12 weeks (best case) to get a full set of mythic raid ilvl gear, while mythic raiders will achieve that in about 1/3 the time with higher ilvl in key items.
Were talking about pvp right now. Are you gonna argue you couldn’t afk yourself to a full set of free epics in tbc arena? People who didn’t play before legion ate trying to tell people who actually played in tbc that tbc gearing was different than it is. Most of us want to be able to cap some arena to get conquest gear and mr genius was like ZOMG with NO rating. When
I understand. Right now we’re arguing with someone that has no idea about the game trying to tell vets we don’t know what we’re talking about. The snark was at them not the pve players in the game.
So, with 1/3 of 12 weeks being 4 weeks and all, I guess you feel most mythic guilds will be in CE farm mode by then with their toons kitted out in full mythic gear after 4 resets?
Nothing in the game has ever required Mythic Raid gear to complete, except maybe Mythic Raiding (and even then it can be argued that it does not since the first several guilds that complete Mythic are in mostly Heroic raid gear).
I’m also kind of bummed knowing Torghast won’t be dropping gear. That was a big selling point for me.
Horrific Visions seemed a small edge in the right direction, but it too had it’s limits. The main was only dropping armor and not trinkets, rings or weapons.
I found gear made a big difference (plus the right corruptions) to turn a 4 mask slog fest into a doable clear.
If there is going to be solo achievements associated with a mainly solo instance, then the appropriate gear to meet those achievements needs to drop. One shouldn’t have to cross into difficult group content in order to come back and get Faceless One. Those under 460 ilvl clearing 5 masks, I would contend, are the above average player.
I was hoping Torghast would continue the trek into challenging solo content and refine it a bit. Mage Tower seemed a big success. Horrific Visions made some positive baby steps. Sounds like Blizzard is moving backwards.
I feel there is a sizable community that would participate in more solo challenges.
I’ll wait and see the actual product before I judge. If the game has backpedalled as Ralph suggests, then I’ll be taking another break.
Im the type of person who gets one drop from a boss and bonus rolls something else I need from it too. There are unlucky people as well though. You can go literal months not seeing an upgrade without bonus rolls or get kitted out in a few lockouts if you’re lucky.
