Shadowlands delayed until 2021?

I still suspect it’ll be later this year than it would have been but still this year.

No i was pretty chill when i said Last of us 2 is boring game with a bad story :sweat_smile:

voice actors have their own studios so they do the voice work there and send it to blizzard

Fake news.
There are never release dates.

No, no release date has been set, and the only thing we know is that it is coming sometime in Q4 of 2020. That can be subject to change with everything that’s going on, but no updates have been given yet.

Europe has laws about this as well. However, they apply to pre-orders only and not pre-purchases.

This is why Warcraft 3: Reforged was able to be delayed since there were zero physical pre-orders made available in the first place. It’s also why SL probably can’t be delayed since some shops have already offered physical pre-orders.

Ever since the presale opened up the hard date has been ‘no later than December 31, 2020’.

Is that due to legal reasons? If they say you can pre-purchase the game and play at ‘x’ time, the game has to be ready by that time or there can be issues?

Good. Will give me plenty of time with cyberpunk 2077.

It probably varies by country/region.

The Rule requires that when you advertise merchandise, you must have a reasonable basis for stating or implying that you can ship within a certain time. If you make no shipment statement, you must have a reasonable basis for believing that you can ship within 30 days. That is why direct marketers sometimes call this the “30-day Rule.”

If you decide you can ship the order later, you must seek the customer’s consent to the delay. You may use whatever means you wish to do this – such as the telephone, fax, mail, or email – as long as you notify the customer of the delay reasonably quickly. The customer must have sufficient advance notification to make a meaningful decision to consent to the delay or cancel the order.

So by reading that, I’m getting the whole Q4 2020 thing you were talking about. Maybe instead of November 2020, it’s December of 2020, but will most likely be before 2021.

It’s delayed until October 2021.

The Shadowlands pre-purchase in the game shop That went up November 1, 2019 has always said ‘* *World of Warcraft®: Shadowlands expansion available on or before December 31, 2020

If you heard that, it’s just a rumor - no formal announcement.

haha nice one dude!!! XDDDDDDD

Pretty sure this is the same guy who was trolling the entirity of blizzcon when it was going on… Wouldn’t take anything he says serious.

Yep, checked his post history. It’s mostly trolling.

already talked about this bud.

Yeah and I covered this above too. WC3:RF had no physical copy, only digital pre-purchases. Legally you purchased a license to play the game which was delivered to you immediately upon confirmation of payment. They had no obligation to deliver within 30 days or by any stated date.

Meanwhile, Shadowlands physical pre-orders are different because you haven’t paid for the full boxed game or license yet and are consenting to a delivery delay of no later than 12/31/2020. If Blizzard for whatever reason chose to release beyond this day, all shops offering physical pre-orders would be legally obligated to offer refunds on the pre-orders to anyone who wants them. That would then in turn frustrate their relationship with Blizzard and Blizzard certainly doesn’t want to stir the pot.

The phrasing of “pre-purchase” versus “pre-order” is very, very deliberate.

Fake News.

Here’s the rule. Straight from the FTC.

What is the Mail, Internet, or Telephone Order Rule?

The Rule requires that when you advertise merchandise, you must have a reasonable basis for stating or implying that you can ship within a certain time. If you make no shipment statement, you must have a reasonable basis for believing that you can ship within 30 days. That is why direct marketers sometimes call this the “30-day Rule.”

If, after taking the customer’s order, you learn that you cannot ship within the time you stated or within 30 days, you must seek the customer’s consent to the delayed shipment. If you cannot obtain the customer’s consent to the delay – either because it is not a situation in which you are permitted to treat the customer’s silence as consent and the customer has not expressly consented to the delay, or because the customer has expressly refused to consent – you must, without being asked, promptly refund all the money the customer paid you for the unshipped merchandise.

So if you don’t list a release date, you’re expected to deliver in 30 days or less. If you do list a release date and have to delay past the stated release date, you need customer permission to do so.

So, quarter 4, 2020 means as long as they release before December 31, 2020 (which is end of quarter 4) they won’t have any issues. If they have to release AFTER that date, they need to get the permission from EVERYONE who bought the product to do so).

What the Rule Does Not Cover

The following sales are exempt from the Rule:

  • magazine subscriptions (and similar serial deliveries), except for the first shipment;
  • sales of seeds and growing plants;
  • orders made on a collect-on-delivery basis (C.O.D.); and,
  • transactions covered by the FTC’s Negative Option Rule (such as book and music clubs).

The Rule also does not cover services , such as mail order photo-finishing.
