It would be pretty cool if legendary traits gave demo access to stronger demons. But that would still require them to replace the talents tied to felguard. At this point I wish they would do just that.
First, request for sticky! As there is so much useful and well articulated feedback in this thread. I share many of the concerns, and will not repeat it all. Seeing as how well put it already is. I would like to add my voice though.
My area of biggest concern, after review proposed changes, is Demon summoning cast time. From my outside perspective it makes no sense to increase this to 6s cast time. Demons are a critical and defining part of our class. We depend on them for dps, utilityā¦ IMO placing a 6s cast time on them is equivalent to placing a 6s cast time on Druid shape shift forms. Only itās even worse for us, as Druids donāt lose their form during a fight like we can lose a demon. I could go on, but Iāll just say that I thought all of these issues would have been obvious. Please revert it.
Next is curses. Why bring these back? Is debuffing going to be a thing again? IMO they donāt do anything interesting, and so they do not add anything of value to the game play experience. Iām just really scratching my head on this one.
Finally, semi related to the previous, can Warlocks get Hellfire back base line for all specs. Iāve felt Warlock aoe on the whole has felt awkward or overly complicated for some time. Hellfire would greatly help with this. Iāve always thought it was a fun ability, and very iconic (?) to the Warlock class.
To summarize, Demon cast time increase is a bad idea. Curses are blah. Return Hellfire please.
ā¦I think it was called Hellfire. The one that was a toggle. You turned it on and you took damage, but everything around you also took damage. Anyway, just my opinions/two copper.
How would you want it to fit in the current aoe rotation? I donāt think adding set and forget vanilla styled hellfire back would good for any of the specs. If there was some interactivity i could see it working for demo and maybe destro but i struggle to see it being anything but clunky for shadowlands affliction.
Was spitballing ideas with a friend yesterday over what to do with Tongue Tied, and this came up as an idea:
Agonizing Curses
Your Agony also applies your most recently cast curse
Thoughts? Monks and Demon Hunters apply their effects super easily, and giving Aff some more utility could help nudge it into some more groups without just pumping up damage mindlessly.
Curses are interesting, but as single target abilities they just donāt really mesh with a lot of content that we have nowadays.
A content creator I just discovered āTiqqleā on YouTube, is amazing, he main Alts warlock and pretty much agrees on everything we have mentioned, heās on the alphaā¦
Hits the nail perfectly, he isnāt about how flashy the class Is, and actually breaks down the class how Destro is only good in a 3 min cooldown and how Demo currently is.
I think it would fit way better, then tab dot dot dot, tab dot dot dot, tab dot dot dotā¦ And Seed of Corruption is almost completely useless (Iād be glad to see it pruned). When there are enough mobs for it to be worth while to cast they die before I can even get a cast off. And then I still have to load up the mob with dots so itāll burst before every thing else dies, defeating the purpose in the first place.
Hellfire requires you to position your character, and monitor your health bar (because if you forget it it will kill you). It would dovetail in quite nicely between casts.
As it is, Iām looking at proposed class changes and considering the design of encounters Blizzard has been using for the past few expansions. It really has me trying to decide between switching back to mage, or going melee.
The issues youāre having with Seed are because youāre level 53. It pops almost instantly at 120, and is worth casting at like 3 targets.
Hellfire is boring, and doesnāt fit at all with Affās toolkit. āMonitor your healthā just means āhope the healer heals you, otherwise your damage is gimped.ā Maybe Demo or Destro could get some form of Hellfire, but definitely not Aff.
Iām currently 120, and my gear is 420+. I donāt know if there is an armory glitch or what. At any rate, at minimum seedās cast time is too long IMO. Phantom Singularity is boring, set it/forget it. Vile Taint is just a Warlock version of DKās Outbreak (I think itās called).
You get 420 ilvl by queueing for heroic dungeons, which is not the content you should be gauging Aff on, especially given the abilities Aff is getting in Shadowlands.
If you donāt like dots then play a different spec. The entire point of playing a pure dps class is to have multiple options, and the entire point of Aff is to use dots.
So I get it. Iām not a bleeding edge mythic raider, therefore my opinions are invalid. Also I never said I didnāt like dots. Affliction is the ONLY spec I bother with on Warlock. I actually LIKE dots and the play style. My issue is specifically with the AOE and itās awkward feeling nature.
But since you want resort personal shaming from your high horse. I believe we are done here. Good day.
And I didnāt get it by āqueuing heroicsā. I got my doing WQs, so I must really be an ignorant scrub.
I wasnāt trying to insult you, I was just pointing out that you are saying things about spells that are blatantly incorrect.
Casting Haunt right after Seed pops it. Specs shouldnāt be designed around playing them incorrectly.
Aff certainly needs something to make it better in M+. Maybe Rapture is enough. I think it probably needs a bit more than that, but certainly a complete about face on how the spec does damage isnāt it. Maybe Vile Taint applying Agony instead of itās own dot, or something like that.
Hey since you guys are getting affected by the same change too as hunters, I was wondering if any of you have been able to come up with a coherent reason for the six second revive/summon time change.
It might sound like Iām just trying to pointlessly bash on the change, and while I do dislike it quite a lot I really am trying to find some conclusion here. So far all Iāve been able to really consider as being a possibility is that the change might of been to nerf the two classes for Torghast because they because have rather high self preservation.
That being said itās just a guess, and Iām sure someone here probably has a better answer.
I donāt think itās Torghast. There is an instant summon power in there. If I had to bet itās largely a pvp change.
If itās really a change for pvp I donāt think Iād ever understand it, so I guess all I can say is that I hope itās not.
Please keep this updated as much as possible, and i really do hope blizzard is listening and stickies this to the forums @mods @everybody please sticky this i would love to see this everytime i come here.
playing victim isnāt going to convince anyone that you are right. If you lack high level experience your ideas are going to be questioned.
I believe that they want the pet to matter more in a pvp or solo questing scenario. At the moment a pet death is a fairly minor inconvenience and placing the cast on a 6 second makes keeping the pet alive a more important ordeal for the hunter/warlock.
For example for a solo questing scenario, if i am fighting a 5 man elite boss, i can just resummon a voidwalker every time it dies without much consequence.
I can see what they are trying to do, but i donāt think itās the correct thing with how the game is designed at the moment. Itās another one of those, turning a positive class quirk into a negative class quirk.
itās bad, game design, quirks are not fun, and having to choose a negative for yourself is not fun, why do i need 2 unfun interactions from the developers to play my class?
If itās really a change for pvp I donāt think Iād ever understand it, so I guess all I can say is that I hope itās not.
PVP and PVE need separate patch notes, and updating cycling if thats the case because thats another ridiculous Nerf for no reason.
From playing a Warlock since launch, I couldnāt agree more with ALL of this amazing feedback, thank you for wrangling it up into one post. I would especially love if Enslave Demon became like a Hunterās Tame Beast where we get a stable (Grimoire) for collected demons. Iām so sick of the choices were limited to.
Honestly whoever has alpha access should copy and paste some of the great feedback posted here
