I can answer that.
For quite some time blizzard was managed by delulu sweat cancer toxic tryhards like quick and Ion (this one still remains unfortunately). which damaged average player experience and product.
Is that clearer now?
Qwik is gone, so now what?
we talk after Ion goes after him
Holly Longdale has vastly more pull in the direction that WoW is going than Ion. Should we remove her as well?
everyone who makes wow harder, yes
I mean, if what you’re looking for is an easy game, you have the ability to do that. You can just do LFR/Normal raids, you can do Follower Dungeons, you can do Delves at low levels, you can transmog farm, and mount farm. You can play Classic which has practically no skill expression at all.
So why is it that you are allowed all these options to play the game, but players who want a challenging experience, who want to put a little more effort in the game shouldn’t be afforded the same thing?
And what does ‘harder’ even mean? Who is our baseline? Is our baseline people who do Mythic raid? What about people who struggle to dragonride?
Where is out starting point for how we measure difficulty?
Vanya didn’t like that one with all of their Wymrest Accord alts? Missed opportunity.
You can’t buy a slam dunk in the NBA, but you can in WoW.
How about turning on the computer and even running the game?
I experienced screen tearing once in WOW.
I did play through a few league matches with half-a-screen available… And when you can’t use half your screen in League, things aren’t easy.
I’ll just add to this quickly, there’s a trope out there called “Unstable Equilibrium”.
https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/UnstableEquilibrium
To summarize:
- Do well, especially early on, and you continue to do well and gain advantages.
- Do poorly at the start, and the difficulty only piles up more and more, making the game harder.
WoW rewarding better gear for clearing harder content creates that “Unstable Equilibrium”.
- Players who do well and clear harder content get better gear… which they don’t need.
- Players who are stuck in lower-difficulty content for any reason are stuck at lower gear levels… and are denied the better gear they do need to get past those lower difficulties.
Unstable equilibriums are generally an undesired trait in games, as it creates un-fun situations where the game is either too easy (boring) or too hard (frustrating) based on early factors.
… but then again, that sort of thing also encourages FOMO design. It’s obvious the player needs to stay on top of things or else they fall behind and everything just snowballs into a trainwreck. If they do stay on top of stuff, they get all the rewards they could ever want and arguably don’t even need.
It’s just calling a spade a spade at this point.
Take it or leave it… and many will opt to leave it.
this presupposes that the only reason to play WoW is to get higher ilvl gear…leaves about 90 % of customers out of the equation. everything is available in time and can be done by just waiting Ion out an x pac or two.
seasons are for addicts…you don’t even have to buy the new x pacs to eventually do them for free…
You play WOW for the experience that can’t be replicated. Not the collect-a-thon that can be started and stopped at any time.
It’s a sign of addiction to want to run content when you aren’t 10 levels above the point that it was current?
you can never catch the dragon…playing with friends is a great experience…for anything.
there are no friends in WoW…
depends on the sweat level…
That’s certainly a you problem.
You make friends if you try or meet people who can be potential friends.
or are just there to help you clear content?
Some are, some are not.
Sometimes people keep in touch even though they’ve moved on from WOW.
can’t argue with that…
Good players are always able to get through the hassle of not playing early, while playing is certainly an advantage. This is a question about progression in mmos and when patchs last 5-6 months you have ample time to get better gear if that’s your goal, moreover when catchup in modern design is still very strong.
Also, good players need gear when gear help progression, even with the better skilled players will get better gear because the content they do is much harder. For me it’s way more easy to blame people than make arguments about why you think you should be given this gear as so far what I’ve seen is either because you feel your character won’t be complete or because you want to be able to destroy even more easily easy content, which both for me simply aren’t design issues moreover if you stick to easy content.
