OK. Me and my husband played wow since the beginning (2004-5). He quit several years ago. Our daughter became interested in WoW few years back (after he quit the game) so instead of starting a fresh new account he gave her password to his old WoW account he did not play anymore. She made couple of her own characters few years back on his account and she loves the game. She recently turned 18. My husband is considering returning to the game so all 3 of us can play together. We need to take her two characters and transfer them to a fresh account that can be her own account so she can play with her dad playing his own old characters. We basically need to split one account into two and pay two subscriptions for two players. Is this possible and how do we go about it?
Unfortunately its no longer possible to transfer off bent accounts what u shouldve done was create a seperate bnet along time ago for her but under ur supervision due to warbands transfers were disabled.
I just realized, he has 2 Wow accounts under the same battle net. Is it possible to xfer characters from one to the other and then play those two accounts simultaneously? Or can they be online only one at a time? This is over a decade and half long history and we honestly do not know how it works anymore.
That would put the licenses at risk as each adult needs to have their own individual Battle.net account and WoW Licenses.
They did away with being able to split things off for minor children (or any other reason) last year with TWW’s pre-patch. With everything being account-bound/warband-bound, it was becoming increasingly more difficult to do that sort of thing.
Unfortunately no, this is called account sharing. He can be logged into both licenses at once and can transfer characters between the two licenses on the same Battlenet.
Your daughter cannot be logged in to his account for any reason. Characters cannot be moved between Battlenet accounts any longer.
Unfortunately your daughter is going to have to start over fresh. While it is unfortunate, you and your husband can make a family outing of it, helping her level and collect things of her own.
Edit: oh, names! If she’s attached strongly to a name, your husband can log in and delete the character. After 30 days, the name becomes free to use for others.
If you want to later revive that character for sentimental reasons you’ll need to give them a different name.
Honostly the best and easiest thing you can do is create there own account. Then when they are of age you don’t have to go through the hassle of transferring account ownership. A new account is nice as well as they can look at what they have achieved in the game without having to worry about a previous owners achieves.
They are 18 now.
I told them what I found out. Instead of 2 subscriptions Blizz will continue to get just one. Their loss.
You know once they are 18 they can no longer share the account with you.
The answer was the same back then in 2021 too, you would have had to pay for two accounts (one for husband and daughter).
Unfortunately since then they have disabled the character transfer between Battlenet accounts.
But she would have always had to have her own account when she turned 18.
Edit: She can always play for free. There’s obviously restrictions, but you can still do a lot of WoW with just the free account option.
