Season of Discovery Developer Update - May 17

I would like to see some classes be brought up to speed with classes like shaman.

I have played Shaman, Paladin, Priest and Rogue so far in season of discovery.

Shaman has always been the offensive support class and utility in my mind, be it from the totems or offensive capabilities of the shaman itself.

Paladin is iconic and should be as equally powerful as shaman, as that fits their fantasy. Plate wearing bulwark of attrition, helping the fledgling unworthy to wield the light warriors who desperately need heals, cleanses and freedoms.

Paladin could benefit from a better suite of defensive support. Offense to defense conversion abilities/resources. Instead of just damage spenders, allow for a heal, emancipation on allies, just like maelstrom is utilized by shaman (primarily enhancement).

Lower the mana cost of a paladin’s abilities and GCD encumbrance when it comes to supporting allies, also make it more accessible on the move. Punish players in PvP for ignoring a paladin on the battlefield. Reduce a paladins damage output to compensate, but make it a choice of the paladin, through runes and resource spenders, just like a shaman.

Misconceptions still rampant about shaman is their ability to perform all the defensive, survival and offensive capabilities people have complained about. You cannot do them all at once, rune swapping and out of combat gear swaps throttle this. Enough with cross contamination of encounters of varying builds of shamans to summarize them as a whole and justify gutting the class. Your input is incomplete and out of context. I advocate for a damage reduction from instant lava bursts and flame shock for PvP. I think the recent reductions over the weekends are a solution. People who complain about elemental mastery chain lightning and an earth shock follow up, that’s vanilla, deal with it every 3min.

I like the damage reduction during PvP, it keeps tuning from gutting PvE experience.

30% damage reduction was solid, people running around with 4-5.5khp, fights lasting long enough to pivot a window of burst and a kill to resetting the fight. I wasn’t annihilating people with overloaded lava bursts and chain lightnings back to back, unless you had very little stamina or entry level to 50 and bloodmoon.

I have played the game, against all classes in PvP. I have been killed by various different specs and classes. Do I have the tools to beat anyone of them if I tried, 100%? Yes, only if I can re-rune to prepare. This is why shaman are versatile and strong, all classes need this option. Shaman have always been Jack of all, melee damage dealing, spell damage hard cast and instant, heals, utility, high AC and shield, spell absorb and resist.

Amen Saber

I expect Majordomo and Rag to see encounter reworks.

I finally hit Level 50 on 5/17 :muscle:  :muscle:  :muscle:  :muscle:  :muscle:

Please give resto tier gear some intelligence and healing power boosts. What good is MPF for a tiny mana pool? We really could care less about doing damage outside of leveling.

Everyone here old enough to have a real job knows, anyone that feels the need to tell you how hard they work twice in the first 2 sentences when they start a statement - isn’t working hard.

It’s a bunch of the SOD team taking credit for work other teams in blizzard did.

Thanks for the heads up. My guild has decided to stop raiding until phase 4. Some of us may not come back at all. Over 90% of the guild was logging in for 1hr a week to do ST.

So spellpower ranged hunter is coming back. Got it.

sorry, lost interest after you murdered lava lash

Id guess 3 more weeks or so, roughly one extra development cycle behind what they expected

With the latest phase I tried both Cata and the MoP remix and have actually liked both leagues more than SOD. The new talent tree in the MoP remix looks really cool and has this classic-vanilla feel to it

Really? Where? What? Cata is post classic content, calling it “cata classic” doesn’t change that. Boring. Pandaria Remixed? Could have been fun but it’s retail, so, meh.

Obviously you’re pushing back P4 in favor of Cata ‘classic’, when people say it’s because Cata ‘classic’ has a store I tend to believe them.

I’m going to try to remain optimistic for p4, but this post is coming across completely tone deaf right now. I don’t think there was any way to ignore everyone playing SOD more than “we are extending p3”. At least for my experience, half my guild left weeks ago due to a complete lack of content to fill their play time. It is what it is, but hopefully we can all be honest moving forward that the SOD community and its feedback are clearly not a priority.

Still completely ignoring the people cut off from their guilds and friends despite the promise of more transfers THREE WEEKS AGO. I’ve played this game from the very beginning and I’ve never experienced this kind of disrespect from Blizz. Hundreds of posts over the course of this month and none of you devs can give a damn for the second it would take to tell us what’s going on with transfers.

Players like you are the reason people quit playing games. You call for nerfs and not for buffs.

Why take away your players fun because their numbers are good? Why not just buff the struggling classes? Why must it always be a nerf.

I hope the team finds a way to employ small form raiding content again. 10 man - 3 Day lockouts were so freaking good.

People like this have a competitive mindset. The only thing that matters to them is that other classes aren’t above them. Nerf or buff, it doesn’t matter, so long as they get to get a show in the spotlight.

This game isn’t competitive though, and SoD especially, should be a just for fun mode. I want to see some chaos and big numbers and feel powerful.

Blizzard however, still caters to the parsers and addicts. They did so recently with their Warrior changes. Oh no, warriors are good at the top 1% of the playerbase, better nerf them.

When it’s literally a non-issue for anyone who doesn’t obsess about parses or being #1 on a list somewhere. They’re just here to kill stuff and have a good time.

And yes, I absolutely agree. The 10 mans were significantly more enjoyable as a casual player. If I had an hour in the morning I could login and get one done with a friend or two. I hate how raiding in this game always turns into a job because like 10% of the playerbase loves standing around waiting for raids to start, and constantly recruiting people so they can meet the 20, 25, and 40 man raid roster sizes. It’s a job. Have to farm consumes, have to farm prebis, have to find a guild and maintain a huge roster, rotate players, worry about loot. Worry about raid composition, worry about peoples performance. Have to worry about parses because the content isn’t accessible and is overly punishing.

Subtext: We need to release level 60 after the 6 month subs that started in December on SoD launch run out, so we can tease out some more 6 month subs.

Patterns are easy to follow guys.

TLDR: We are too busy re-releasing old version of the game from 15years ago and somehow we managed to launch it with more bugs then the original release. We as Blizzard fully commit to bringing you the worst paid experience, we only care about your money, so dont unsub. All the current problems on seasonal servers could be easily resolved, we wont be fixing any of them. Next time play our new expansion rtard.

Yes we can’t let the SoD crowd go more than 1.5 days without a blue post…
