Season of Discovery Developer Update - May 17

That might be it… They’ve abandoned SoD to give a version of the game where a high pop server is like where Lava Lash was AND give it room to breath.

So either they are trying to do what you suggest, kill off SoD for unknown reasons or get it to where they can consolidate it down into 2 “super” servers. Or another potential reason that makes sense if you look at the Dev choices made over time… they lack critical thought process to the point they don’t realize what is obviously going to happen.

Just like tossing out “so that the new content will be of proper quality…” every time there is a delay. You notice how that Cata “pre patch” was full of quality. So this time we’re going to get some kind of PTR and true to form there will be certain feedback about critical things that will be ignored… whatever the issue(s) is/are will be push to live and then “omg it’s broken” and it will be fixed/adjusted weeks later… at least with no ptr you can skip the feedback part that you ignore which pisses off even more people.

Thank you for the update.

Some of us actually appreciate what you guys do and know you are working hard at putting the best possible experience at our fingertips.

I have already stopped playing P3 and have been playing other games so not a big deal to wait. I am perfectly fine with a delayed release because it will maximize the population and experience.

“and while keeping Shaman dominance intact is the goal”

Fixed that typo for you.

We just need a hard mode setting for ST. Bump up the boss hp/dmg/etc and beef up the loot. Make it hard enough you need 20 people fully geared from normal ST.
Problem solved.

These just felt like empty words.

“Devs working hard in silent for SoD content” - but provide no sneak peaks to some of the changes to keep us hooked up… just generic status of ideas they are thinking about.

A longer phase 3 is ridiculous. This is the first time in considering unsubbing… give us something more concrete.

Given the propensity to bring over bad ideas from retail, maybe they’ll add “War Mode” to classic so they can merge Crusader Strike and Wild Growth. One server to rule them all; one server to find them …

Wish they would show us player base numbers spread out

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

SoD is done and dusted.

Probably shouldnt have nerfed ST into the dirt.

I remember when I played casually back in the day… I always would come back and try to beat content that was hard because I wanted to beat it, because once I did beat it… it felt like I earned that win.

You really dont earn anything by beating ST and I understand its level raid… but its “end game” right now as you expressed… and you can tone it down AFTER the phase is over… right now you just made your own content rather stale.

Well they kind of hinted at it …

Shamans will have all their runes become baseline skills, while the rest of the plebs will have to use runes.

It was nearly 3 weeks of what was supposed to be a 8 week phase

Can we please get some paths for those of us who aren’t in big guilds? We need paths for 5-man groups to get the gear.

Well they will still use runes… it will just be new runes. The class isn’t performing quite as well as the Devs playing it would like so they need to adjust it upward.

Excited for LEVEL 60! SPIRIT WOLVES LETS GO

you can get gear just not raid gear… cause well if you’re not gonna do the raid why would you expect raid gear?

A lot of ST gear is outclassed by gear you can obtain at or before level 40. Fill in with incursion gear and a couple of quest items and you’re about 5dps off from BiS.

ST is irrelevant and “raid gear” is not needed.

That excuse didnt work with the emerald dream in original vanilla or the other cut content that was planned.
It didnt work with the abyssal maw raid in cataclysm.
It didnt work when blizzard originally tried to remove glory mounts.
It didnt work with faralhon in wod.
It didnt work with the shattrath raid tier in wod.
It didnt work with garrisons in general in wod.
It didnt work with azerite armor or the heart of azeroth taking the entire bfa expansion to be an actual feature.
It didnt work with the story, missing raid tier, or in general content, namely covenants and torghast with shadowlands.
It didnt work with phase 3 reception of sod.
It didnt work with phase 2 balancing concerns.

Its not going to work here. You cant just keep throwing the dart at the “but the content will be great we promise!” And hoping it to work when for 20 years its only been the opposite.

Quite literally, EVERY time content has been delayed, it hasnt been better than content delivered on time. When you think aboht this it doesn’t even logically make sense. Why does content that take LONGER to come out, for whatever reason, always end up being -worse- than content that comes out on time?

Tell that to Emerald Dream, original uldum, original quel thalas, original gilneas, grim batol/twilight highlands, hyjal raid, shattrath raid, abyssal maw raid, every cut questline similar to eranikus in sunken temple (likely would have continued in the cut emerald dream zone),
Most of shadowlands’s story, most of wods features, and the myriad of other things either msde objectively worse, or cut and never even implemented at all until much later or at all.

Blizzard has a track record of things being WORSE when they take longer, not better.

Ya but… every Dev thinks if they say they are delaying something for quality reasons that the player base is just ok with it. It’s not being delayed for quality reasons and most likely whatever they are going to release eventually is already done.

The cynical though potentially accurate view is that some percentage of bored people go to another version of WoW or D4 or whatever and spend $$ in the store on various things. Which is that “give cata launch room to breath” BS. That statement defies logic… I’m not playing SoD so that I can play Cata. The implication that some large percentage of SoD wants to play that dumpster fire is false. Some amount of people will leave and just be gone over that one.
