whiners gonna whine and ruin whole game dude
Right, and the name âwar modeâ makes sense if it all it does it toggle PvP modes, but if other stuff gets lumped in (e.g. lumping in PvE game dynamics) its purpose changes and it needs to be renamed to reflect that.
That, or game dynamics get their own separate switch, but thatâs probably splitting up players too much.
I mean, the crux of the problem is the ability for players to rise as zombies themselves and deliberately cause problems for other players. If there were a BG you could queue for to do Zombie Invasions or Doomed Strongholds then there wouldnât be a problem at all; you have a neat separation between PvP and PvE. Have it be a PvP questgiver that asks âRemnants of Arthasâs cursed forces shamble toward our city! Will YOU muster and join in its defense! Talk to <Insert NPC name>
here and make ready your steel and courage!â
Easy done, and non-intrusive to people that donât want PvP.
But then itâs not a world event, which the whole point of is to be something that players across the game world share an experience of.
Thatâs the core of my question: is there a way to involve non-war-mode players in a dynamic world event sans PvP components (or perhaps subbed in with weak AI) or do all dynamics have to cordoned off in their own mode, with anybody with war mode (or whatever else it gets renamed to) turned off being left out entirely?
I guess I just have a hard time believing that everybody with war mode off has no interest in non-PvP parts of world events.
Well, War Mode does sharding stuff, and ideally War Mode characters shard with other War Mode characters of their configuration. So folk with WM on find other such PvP-minded folk, and folk with WM off share the world with other PvErs. NPC zombies could shamble about and other NPCs offer quests related to it, but you wouldnât see or interact with PC zombies unless you toggled on War Mode, and specific quests for PvP interaction (certain, strangely-cunning zombies roam amongst the dead, go find and slay them!) would require War Mode opt-in. Of course, thatâs me being an optimist and assuming War Mode works as-intended.
As far as the âdynamic worldâ is concerned, there is a difference between a dynamic world full of changing things an a world that imposes things on its players, and WoW was successful because it was a dynamic world that allowed players to curate their experiences. Want to level alongside the Dwarves outside of Ironforge? Hang out with the Tauren in Mulgore and Barrens? You had quests and questlines for that specific purpose, but could choose any amount of interaction.
Interacting with player zombies isnât a choice, itâs an imposition.
Iâm beginning to wonder if you even play the game. Why do you care about this in-game event so much? Iâve been trying to catch you online on The Forgotten Coast for ages but I havenât been able to.
I mean, PSO2 happened and Iâve been gorging on that pretty hard, soâŠ
Then stop caring about what happens on WoW and go play that.
Well, shocking thing, if WoW were to improve in directions I appreciate, then it might draw me back into it! Thus, I speak. After all, I got the Vulpera heritage armor 'cause they drew me back, otherwise I probably wouldnât have bothered with Legion or BFA.
I mean⊠Youâre definitely welcome to just leave and stay gone. If you want WoW to turn into some weirdo weebfest like Phantasy Star or Final Fantasy then I have bad news for you!
Whatâs even the point now? What a disappointment.
I was looking forward to it too. Really disappointed.
Uh, I posited suggestions to improve the game from my perspective, friendo. I got interested when the Vulpera were mentioned as possibly playable. Then when I saw what Iâd have to do to get ARs up and running, I took a breath, rubbed my temples, and started work onâŠ
⊠My 120 Tauren Warrior. 'Cause Iâm addicted to Prot. But my Mage was next! Then my Vulpera priest.
If the game makes improvements that I find good or that I suggest (Worgen Tails, removable Pandaren sandals) it makes it more likely I stick around. So I speak in support of the stuff I like, and hopefully get listened to!
Though WoWâs got a hell of a journey to make if it even wants to begin approaching the fun of the ARKS Casino. Or the Nyau suit.
Whoa is this true?? That is the dumbest change, absolute cringe worthy. I hope that gets revertedâŠ
Would have been cool if they gave alchemists a new recipe for a special elixir to give you immunity or something to that effect.
Are you⊠a furry? I uhh⊠Huh⊠You know what you do you.
hugs and love?
Might as well not have any xpac at all because weâve already won if we can just blow up chunks of the world to end all the threats. lol. Why was Bolvar even remaining as the Lich King at all if we were able to end the scourge threat so easily all this time? Your logic is flawed.
broomsticks are viable weapons in desperation
Also, cellphones are terribly known for autocorrects without a reason too do it.
We werenât sure we could? Fresh out of ICC, we were definitely not in a position to stop the Scourge so Bolvar took the helm. After that point, we got busy with the Sha, Iron Horde, Legion, and then the other Faction and the Old Gods getting frisky to bother looking back at Icecrown and going âhey should we finish cleaning that up?â âNah Bolvarâs got it, letâs go loot Nâzoth even harder this runâ.
Now the Scourge is back in our crosshairs and, surprise, weâre a whole lot stronger than we were back then. And, well, the Shadowlands arenât able to be shot to death, as far as Iâm aware. There is a unique situation unfolding with that place that makes violence probably not the best solution.
That said, game mechanics are what they are.
Whiners got a fun event nerfed to the point where it might as well not be there.
I bought a couple wow tokens worth of sub specifically to skip the scourge invasion part. Itâs a cool idea and everything but when pre patch events start interfering directly with my ability to play the game regularly itâs a bit too far.
