General Side Note: I actually think the criticism displayed here is because the players who have done it will be annoyed that other players won’t have to do it if it becomes a thing and they got an ‘easy’ way through.
Why have PvP servers died and Warmode become a thing? Surely that’s the opposite? So why does the achievement have to be still PvP related? We’re not required to have Warmode on. There’s a disparity in the game. It’s because one system is old and the other is new and updated. It doesn’t mean to say either can’t be changed back and forth.

It will be funny to see people who have no business (or idea) trying to run flags. This achive and I think flame tosser/juggler are the only 2 I don’t have. One due to lag in my connection and hard knocks because well people will hate you.

Here we got someone complaining about the School of Hard Knocks, the other day someone was wanting to be reimbursed for Tuesday maintenance downtime.
All we need is for someone to say Rift is going to kill WoW and I’ll be a happy orc!

The very first time this achievement came around, waaay back in Wrath, I came to the forums with many others and complained about it. I didn’t like PvP and didn’t want to be forced into it for a mostly PvE achievement. Of course nothing changed, so when the time came I gritted my teeth and finished it. It wasn’t that freaking hard, not nearly as bad as all of us made it out to be. Search around for other folks trying to finish it and group up, it’s way easier than doing it alone.

Because you can’t capture a flag or a node in WM? These are BG objectives and honestly they are easy enough to do. It’s not like AoTC can be earned by PvP players in WM either. Because it is an instanced PvE achievemnt, kind of like this is an instanced PvP one.
Years back when this first came out both sides would work together to get it done…but now most newer players just don’t have the moxie to work with others many times.

I will never understand how people can be so against playing PvP.
Like, imagine being so absolutely against participating in one of the game’s core game modes, that has existed since long before the game was even released, that you come to the forums and cry about it for hours, instead of just doing the single hour’s worth of content that you have to do for a holiday achievement.

But it really isnt that hard. I think I leveled a toon specifically for this to the point where it could get into all of the BGs needed (but nowhere near max level) and it took the pressure off immensely. Maybe if epic BGs are max level only now for the tower one that could be an issue, but not even the end of the world.
This achievement resulted in a three year delay in getting my Violet Proto Drake mount. It was all I had left to do.

People ask this every single year, before and after the event.
So they already know the issue.
It is the one thing keeping me from that mount, ALL this time. It is just really difficult, because people (even on the other side) basically have to ALLOW you to do several of the things.
Back when I did them A LOT, on this character as well as a hunter for the Battleground GEAR (“Last Season’s Arena Set”, when PVP gear was king, for … PVP, go FIGURE? (not that bad for PVE, even.) I was never ONCE able to return a flag, or pick one up. I was more just “helping out” the people who were “good.”
So I think about maybe “trying” again, but just find the thing demoralizing.
No, the OP is actually NOT complaining that they have to “do some BG for once in your life?”:
They are complaining about WHAT they have to DO in it. Their suggestion is even that it could be switched to other things, like so many kills/etc. It could even be “so many wins” with the kid out, it would still be way easier.
The way that people have “won it finally”, in posts on the forums, illustrates the difficulty. Usually they post that they have the kid out, go around trying to do the thing while pointing at the kid etc., then people on both faction sides at some point maybe feel sorry for them and let them do the thing. Just them posting that, shows you how hard it is for some of us.

As a PvPer, sometimes you just have to accept you’re not suited to perform an objective and help someone else do it instead.
Add to that the fact that only one person can really capture a flag, and only one person really should, while other people get to their positions to defend, or help keep enemy players off them while they cap … The achievement really should give a player credit for assisting another player in a cap.
It being a race to click first is just a bit dumb, and worsens the game for everybody.

The Whole issue is pvpers actively go out of their way to thwart the attempts of the achievement getters. I have seen a priest lifegrip a orphan haver from grabbing the flag in EoS and I have seen a few paladins bubble folks so they can’t interact during WSG and AB.
The problem with this achievement actively goes directly against the grain, where all the other holiday achievements simply exist along side in pvp, not moving against the spirit of teamwork, making people behave selfishly and potentially ruin the match for those who aren’t running for the achievement.
Even people saying “Yes, I need this for the achievement” only invites the ire and contempt of the pvpers who are not interested in helping others. SO this entire issue stacks.
- Players need to behave selfishly
- Players need to engage in activities that are often against their role, or inhibits others ability to enact their role
- Non-holiday seekers now act maliciously to others, thus making this go on longer, or repeatedly throughout the Que of battlegrounds.
it comes down to this being an achievement that is yes - possible to get, it requires this community, which by and large is volatile and aggressive (to say the least) to work together selflessly. All the other holidays involved more non-offensive activites, like “Collect HKs with this buff up” or “Go drop this item at this location and emote at it” which neither go against intention of the battleground.
Adjusting this to collect 1, or 2 of the 4 goals, or even changing it entirely to accomplishing a number of HKs would make this much more reasonable, and less offensive to the PVP community by and large.

I got it done in 1 hour or so, was easy.
You can choose not to do that, as I have. It doesn’t break the game or put you at a disadvantage if you do not get the achievement. It is after all a PvP related achievement.
