It’s currently Noblegarden (hope you guys are enjoying it!) but when it ends, Children’s Week will be upon us starting the same week.
To a passing Community Blue, please can we amend/change or do something with the School of Hard Knocks achievement? Can it be taken off the meta for the overall achievement? Can we change it to ‘X kills’ with the orphan out instead? Can we scrap it entirely?
As someone who mainly PvE’s out of a sea of thousands, having an achievement that’s required for the title and for the Violet Proto Drake overall, I don’t understand why the player has to do some PvP. Warmode PvP is a choice, why is this particular achievement still tied to PvP require the player to PvP?
Also for the PvP’ers actually trying to play and win the match, they’ll have PvE scrubs like myself camping Eye of the Storm Flags and then /quit out of the match once its done (if it’s ever done lol). I don’t think anyone wins in this situation as one group will always have an active partial playing group committed to a win and the others not participating in map objectives bar the one for this achievement and then quitting out. You’ll have groups of players hanging around the opponent Warsong Flag carrier waiting for a return and the Arathi Basin Blacksmiths will have never had more customers!
I understand it’s an old achievement in the sense it’s been a thing long before new systems entered the game and even back then, I still didn’t agree with it.
But I implore the powers of the Blue, can this particular achievement be amended in time this year or some time in the future?
Well that’s something I’m preparing for anyway but my focus in all those matches is just to tick off that part of the achievement. I won’t be helping defend a keep etc because I don’t want to actually PvP. Once (and if) it’s done, I’ll quit out of the match instantly.
Going in on my Druid or Rogue and pop out of stealth when I need to is my plan.
Pretty sure the Fool For Love, Hallowed Be Thy Name, and Merrymaker metas have PvP components.
Your premise doesn’t make any sense. Achievements aren’t only a PvE thing. Some of them require PvP. This is one of them.
You don’t have to chase this achieve if you don’t want to.
And that’s fine. I BG regularly and tend to keep that achievement in mind on that week. I’ll be doing the regular objectives and killing people as usual. If it’s feasible I even assist folks with it when asked, like delivering a flag to them and such.
Some achievements require PvP, that’s just all there is to it.
Not as bad as this. The others can be exploited. Like the one where you have the Hallow’s End buff or the Merrymaker costume on, you can literally hide near PvP kills and have them counted without involving yourself. I think the Love Fool one is /love the dummy in a location and doesn’t require any combat (from memory).
This particular achievement is the only one that requires actual PvP as no one is going to let you assault keeps or run off with flags unharmed.
I must say I like your attitude about it as I’m sure it will frustrate other PvP’ers actually wanting a good match. Thanks for keeping the World Event in mind.
I mean, the requirements for that achieve aren’t really conflicting with the objectives of that BG. Carrying flags, assaulting nodes, etc…it’s all business as usual for the most part. The only difference is that BGs might see slightly more inexperienced folks on that week just looking to complete it, which isn’t a bad thing as it introduces them to another part of the game. They might even end up liking it afterwards. xD
Are you really complaining because you need to do some BG for once in your life?
The Achievement is there because the game is called WORLD od Warcraft and not World of Dungeons. Sorry if it’s inconvenient for you to do some BG’s but the world we are into has that element in it.
To swing it the other way, why haven’t they added world event achievments into Warfronts, Islands, Pet Battles, Mythic + etc? It’s all PvE achieves bar the PvP ones. Not much ‘world’ in that so I don’t think you can use that point.
Yes, I do all aspects of the game. Mainly because doing the same thing bores me and then I jump to other sides of the game. I even did pet battles and questing during prepatch.
But my example doesnt matter at all. The achievements are for people enjoying the whole world, even in basic activities like random BGs. There’s nothing wrong in that, its exactly what it needs to be.
And no, they haven added any new requeriments for those achievements because they were invented in Wrath or Burning Crusade and they havent update any of them for any expansion feature. Those are the same achievement since 2008 or so.
So I can use that point because the achievements were crafted when the world was much smaller than it is now. Even there the achievement you are pointing out contains 4 BGs: the 3 original from Classic and 1 from Burning Crusade. No isle of Conquest, no Strand of the Ancients, no Twin Peaks, no Temple of Kotmogu, no Ashran, no seething Shore. No update at all.
No. This can be done and it actually isn’t as hard as people make out the PvP requirement to be. You might ‘gasp’ actually have to communicate with others for help in some BGs but it isn’t impossible.
It is actually because funnily enough, the enemy faction does tend to get in the way.
I might ‘gasp’ get an endless sea of trolls who:
a - are the same selfish people you see in all BG’s that would rather see your character die than help
b - are frustrated PvP’ers that are more focused on the overall game than rather help someone’s achievement that they get no benefit from
c - all of the above
I had some friends that shared your sentiment OP & I just told them to join an AV, follow the biggest group nuke any opponents or heal ally’s. They got it done in no time a some ended up having fun.
In AV you kinda disappear in the crowd unless you are on tower watch.
Thankfully the AV one isn’t too bad. You just have to stealth in and hopefully nobody notices you unfurling the flag
Never assume. I’ve painfully done it quite awhile ago (and never attmpted again) on another account which I no longer have and before achievements became account bound.
Thanks for this Scruit. I did mention this but this was either not read or purposely read and tossed out from the people that criticized me above.
Because it’s a meta achievement, and almost every holiday has something to do with other things, or other fields of content. You did it for the others, you can do it for this one, you’ll be fine.
This is irrelevant. Reason being that people would do this anyway. Or, you could very well just be a decent player and finish the bg. Nothing’s stopping you from doing that, either.
Regardless, you will be fine. Man up, put them big boy pants on, and get in there.
How can you no longer have an account ? And if you did it once, you can do it again if you really want to. Blizzard has been getting these requests for all the years I can remember yet they never removed it, I wonder why not.
