Say my name, don’t call me champion

Even if they could figure out a way to say everyones names.
It would sound stupid. It would be the same as a robotic
caller. No one would want it if they knew how it would sound.

“You have saved us…” (in a normal voice) followed by a awkward
pause, then a electronic voice “…Mursh…”. Then another
awkward long pause, before finishing with a normal voice again.

Story of my everyday life, right there.

Some people’s characters names are just bunch of random letters mushed together like (ndgsjeofxipl) how is the game suppose to pronounce stuff like that? Not to mention how often it would mispronounce names

“Thank you, Bigsaltinutz, we couldn’t have done it without you.”

I can’t even pronounce half the names I see in WoW on a daily basis, can’t imagine some AI trying to do it with all of them!

Also, can you imagine the huge uptick in offensive names if that ever came to pass?

I’ve always hated how NPC’s will call me champion, hero, whatever in the VO, but use my actual name in the text dialogue.

I’d much rather they call me champion or hero in the text dialogue, at least then it wouldn’t feel like I was reading some poorly translated subtitles.

I want the NPC to look deep into these eyes, and awkwardly have to utter the words

Squat

Lobster

as they thank the guy who just murdered three dozen bandits to bring them back five stolen mementos, hand me 23 gold and 15 silver, and hope to whatever god NPCs pray to that I don’t come for their loot one day.

That’d be expensive and hard to do (especially with names like mine, how would you pronounce them?), and there wouldn’t be that much of a reason to do it. Some players don’t even play with sound on, and it’s odd but hilarious.

I thought he was, sometimes. It freaked me out, then I realized he was saying (in his thick accent, this being Magni) “ChampYON.” For some reason, in his accent when speaking fast, I thought he was saying “kepookONS!”

I was thinking the game got more advanced

Thank ye, Pssyslyrxx, without yer assistance Azeroth woulda been doomed!

“Thank you for saving me Kay-Rog-Gee and Aşs-Nuh”

You seriously want to hear microsoft sam say Aviela? or “LongDongSilver” or whatever inappropriate name you have your main named as?

They should use a text to speech and make it the most obnoxious thing ever and have that as an option.

Do you expect this from other RPGs with spoken dialogue, where you can choose your own name? There are a lot of them out there like this… :speak_no_evil:.
Dragon Age, Mass Effect, SWTOR, FFXIV, Dragon Quest XI, Diablo; I can go on and just list all RPGs made with voice acting .

Thank you xXx_DarkSephiroth_xXX, you’ve saved Azeroth.

I can definitely relate to this, OP! Then again most of my toons don’t have overly complicated or inappropriate names. And I understand it’s just not worth it for blizzard to attempt this. Still can dream, though.

Honestly most of the time I’d rather NPCs call me by my class than my name. Why are they calling me by my name? We’re not friends.

Titles like Commander are also bad. When did I go to OCS?

They couldn’t really say our names but they could refer to us by our class.

Ironically at least one NPC already shouts out our name in BFA, so I suppose it’s selectively possible? The estate Herald in Tiragarde does in fact announce the player by name when they step onto the estate.
