Say my name, don’t call me champion

lol could you imagine fluid dialog getting interrupted by a jarred awkward text to speech name insert?

They do say your name. Obviously it’s not realistic to have it voiced, but it’s in the text. It’s part of why I find it so amusing to make characters with fruity and frivolous names.

maybe they put in deep learning speech synthesis one day

Ah yes.
That would be quality to hear an NPC say my name

We could have it be like Skyrim and have like only 3 voice actors for all the NPCs!
Then we could likely have it so they say people’s names.

good morning champions

No matter what system, there would always be a lot of names that would be pronounced wrong to the user. I have some names that are like that, and if anyone asks I could tell them how to pronounce them. But there are also lots of names that are just unpronounceable, jumbles of alt code and consonants, etc.

I’d rather they just say the name of your class.

The only way they’d be able to do that, is if you had to choose from a list of generated names.

And even those names are often “unavailable”. (Which I hate. I don’t give a flaming #!$@ if someone else has that name! Let me use the name I want, damn it!)

Having an NPC call my DH by his name would be fun. Dhezmode. At least then we know for sure that the NPCs acknowledge what we all already know.

Not just a graveyard meme, but a bad one too.

I have my Inn set to the Norwington estate in Tiragarde simply to hear: “announcing Lord Hernex!” every time I walk through the front gate.
