already snagged the others for my alt rogue and mage lol. I have a list of other adjectives/nouns I am going to pick also

Nobody is going to bust your chops for naming a character Carl, even if it’s a Dwarf or Gnome most likely.

The names we’re generally adverse to are more blatant. Pallydone, Bullcrit, etc. etc.

Guild names as well, it’s more for blatant stuff like TOM CRUISE FAN CLUB or Clown Car Patrol and so on.

Here’s a hot take

Whether or not Blizzard enforces a rule does not make it ok to roll on an RP server and not RP.

There are many, many PvP and PvE only servers. There’s no reason to roll on an RP server that doesn’t evolve taking advantage of the RP community in some way. Don’t be that person. If you are new to RP and what to give it a try, welcome. New RPers will be greeted with open arms. Just don’t come and ruin other people’s fun because it’s not enforced due to Blizzard’s lack of moderation. Moderating RP realms takes a lot of resources.

I guess knowing the RP servers are generally less toxic and friendlier than the normal servers is taking advantage shrug

Just does us both a favor. I have no interest in people lacking a sense of humor and a stick up their bum.

Of course it is. You’re passively benefiting from other people’s hard work and maturity without contributing anything yourself. The people who are on the server to RP are there because they want to see other people RPing and be there character in a fantasy world. If all you do is watch passively, you’re getting without giving and breaking the immersion for the people you’re benefiting from.

Don’t come to an RP realm to mooch off of the community. You are more than welcome to join us, in fact, we encourage it.

I have no interest in RPing, however I do have an interest in being around mature people who aren’t toxic. I myself am not toxic, so I dont think im taking advantage of anything

I guess I might… used to do city raids on feathermoon back in Cata and MoP… But outside the PvP aspect of RP, I probably have zero interest

Tbh, it’s not thaaat strict. As long as you have a fantasy related name you’re good. Just don’t have a name like pwnrofl or qtgirlie. You can get away with most names, and take adjectives as nicknames. Like you could have a character called ‘Trickery’ if your character goes by that.

Any disruption will be strictly in character. Whether thats murdering swathes or horde, or being chased by the angry legion of undead I just riled up by using their friends head as a soccer ball.

This is exactly the kind of attitude that non-RPers rolling on an RP server need to avoid.

Being disgruntled about someone coming to an RP server, actively refusing to follow the ruleset and then labelling folks that want the ‘in character’ environment of their server preserved as ‘lacking a sense of humor’ and ‘have a stick up their bum’ is completely unwarranted.

Invading and murdering the people attending a funeral comes to mind…

They are already in the right place to be put in the ground. Convenience.

It’s called reciprocity. You are getting something from us without giving anything back. The nature of RP is that even a few people who are walking around the world not participating ruins it for the rest of us. People are putting in tons of effort to make backstories, put on accents, and build flavor into the world. If you want to enjoy that, you need to participate.

RP is not a play or a movie for you to come watch. It’s a recreation of a world that you either decide to join and be a part of, or don’t.

Considering im running around a game in my own fantasy world playing my shaman as Kanstil and doing my own thing kinda makes it RP already

Gud! I have yours and Jux blessing!

Let me phrase it this way. Everyone knows a clown or two. It is perfectly reasonable to expect some people to be a clown as their rp persona.

Labeling that behavior as ignoring server rules is simply asinine and narrow minded. And, yes, it means they have no sense of humor.

No you aren’t taking advantage of anything. Someone trying to tell you how to “be” is taking advantage of you. For all anyone knows you are role playing a character that watches others like a fish bowl but feels socially awkward and doesn’t really take part. It’s your character to play how you see it in the world that it exists in…

Yes, and there are two main reasons why we feel this way:

  1. We’re RPing because we want to build a completely immersive world. When you aren’t interacting or acting OOC, we have to ignore you. Eventually the amount of people not RPing ruins it for the people who came to an RP realm to RP.

  2. We’re putting in tons of effort to make the world feel alive. All we ask is that people reciprocate and give what they are getting. We don’t care if you are bad at it. We can teach you. We’re ok with mistakes as long as you’re trying. But please, we need more RPers.

It’s really quite simple. We aren’t telling you how to RP your character. All we are saying is to follow what is says on the tin. It’s an RP-PVP server, so you need to RP. No one is forcing you to roll on an RP server.
