#RP-PVP Realms, Reconsider One Realm

Emerald Dream continues to have a high population and hosts many strong RPPVP guilds.

Maelstrom, the other original RPPVP server, did collapse, but that wasn’t because of any influx of nonroleplayers. It was because our roleplay culture was fundamentally based on PVP faction conflict, and the continuing faction cooperation lore, especially in Wrath, undermined that culture and made it untenable, causing players to leave the game. That won’t be a problem in Classic, which won’t have the faction cooperation lore.

Which in turn further increases server population and subscriptions, which in turn provides more PVP on which to base roleplay. Win-win!

That was so beautiful. I believe you to be correct, Irisse. PvP is a sustaining factor that kept a lot of us playing – and presumably with Classic if they don’t release Battle Grounds for a while, world pvp will be absolutely rife!

Vanilla was the time when faction warfare was at an all time high! We revel in victories! Story tell and laugh about taking over Alliance camps and bottle necks. Large zone and guild versus guild conflict emerged. Organically, wildly… The comradery and guild loyalty was incredibly strong. Especially after the Emerald Dragons!

Sorry, I can go on.

I do not find that conglomerate of like-minded people or Guilds else where!

You’re not wrong. but remember this IS vanilla community is a MASSIVE part of it, my main interesting isn’t roleplay but end game raiding, then a mix of Wpvp / RP if i have time, if i’m not helping people. But i also enjoy the community for it, and there events i enjoy making my own events for the community. If we can come to some way of footing we may have some form of control,

I fail to see anything wrong with non-RPers rolling on RPPvP servers so long as they aren’t overly disrespectful. That’s how I started out, and now I love both aspects. Even just having quiet bodies who join in on RP world PvP events help the community.

For those who are saying they dislike RPPvP servers or that they don’t have faith in griefers etc., please understand that features like those are part of what makes it all so fun. Maybe YOU don’t like it, but why should we be stopped from enjoying what we like? Many of us were fully prepared to pay good money for it up until this disasterous announcement.

“Strong” is a subjective term. I have heard of roleplay picking up on Emerald Dream since many of the regular players have quit. Roleplayers tend to play the game for alot longer due to roleplay being endless content.

But to say it’s strong seems far stretch to me compared to how it was in the past. Before I quit 1month into BFA, 3-4 guilds that have been on Emerald Dream for years transferred to Wyrmrest Accord.

Before that, several big names like Devilclaw Outlaws, Kingship of the East and Phoenix Highguard have also left. My guild(The Mercenary Outfit) has also left Emerald Dream and many of them have played on ED for over 10+years. I’d honestly say that Emerald Dream RP is a shadow of it’s former self.

But I’m not here to talk about Emerald Dream, merely to use it as an example of what could potentially happen to a Classic RP-PVP realm. The community needs to be open to teaching new people into roleplay and not be openly hostile to people who don’t or we create this divide between the roleplay community and the rest of the realm. And the people who join a RP-PVP server have to be open minded and be willing to roleplay for the betterment of the server

Sorry to continue the trend on only seeing the negative side of this, but how many of those new players would be willing and open-minded roleplayers?

I love base RP, I helped defend Aerie Peak with my RP guild for many years. Most of the time when we got attacked, it was mostly PvPers just looking for a fight.

Devilclaw Outlaws had a base in Darkshire, they got attacked almost daily by people just looking for a fight

Despite all this, I honestly truly hope they reconsider this and release a RP-PVP realm. The potential of it is massive and would honestly be just amazing with the emphasis on the old world

I believe discussing the more subjective features of RPPvP servers is outside of the scope of this thread. It doesn’t matter to me if some people want to air their grievances with the ruleset, but this isn’t really the place for it.

We want to demonstrate that there is a sizeable population of players very interested in playing on RPPvP servers, arguements and stories against them being enjoyable be damned. I want to hear from a Blizzard Rep how they plan to reconcile this demand with their decision to not have them at release - especially knowing how much of an investment leveling is in classic. They are crippling any future RPPvP server populations by not including them at release.

There has to be be more then one… what about us oceanic players that would like a RPPVP server? If there is only one it will most likely be US based and I for one don’t want to go back to playing on 200-300ms.

Blizzard may not give us any, at-least if we have one we can work towards more. Honestly i think it’s insane how blizzard isn’t really talking about Oceanic server problems in general, but that’s a topic that i’d rather not get into here.

I hope Blizzard can look at the history of RP-PvP server population on live servers and see what players see from a chance to expand the realm structure later into Classic’s lifespan. There are up’s and down’s, and a dramatic shift between which servers are populated, but overall, there is a gravitational pull. The more people on an RP server, the more people who transfer there. There are many reasons for experienced players like myself to believe that adding RP-PvP servers later will leave them to become a self-fulfilling prophecy as a ‘niche’ interest.

Also consider that one of the most vocalized in Classic is a return to days when server community mattered. A chance to have the server type we want to play on does not matter if it is not available on launch. It would feel awful to invest months or years into a server community and guild, still wondering if you are going to uproot or not if the next content cycle brings RP-PvP servers.

Please do not leave this as a chance to maybe eventually have RP-PvP servers. Either give us a hard yes, or a hard no. For players like myself who are looking to create RP-PvP guilds for Classic, we really need to know as soon as possible in finalize our plans, especially in the wake of this news.

If we build it, they will come. Give us the opportunity to build it!

I could be wrong, but I’m almost 100% sure that the farmers in Hillsbrad, for example would not flag PvP. Little pockets like that are wonderful for PvP and likely what that poster was talking about.

I 100% support this! I really hope NA has one RP-PvP server. I do believe the demand is there, and I think Blizzard should reconsider.

Ive played RP-PvP servers for years, and the ability for world PvP to lead into random / enjoyable RP has been one of the most enjoyable experiences I’ve had playing this game.

Twisting Nether - Alliance

While I am excited for classic and will still play for a multitude of reasons, hearing Ion mention they had no plans for this type of Realm was disheartening a bit… I think at least one option would be sufficient!

I was in TN for all of vanilla (transferred off for SSC guild) and agree completely. You didn’t see RP everywhere you went, but the world PvP wasn’t unbearable either.

Looks like Blizzard has just recently announced that they changed their loot trading policy based on community feedback. They’re listening, and I certainly won’t take this no RPPvP nonsense lying down.

Keep the discussion going. We’ll be heard one way or another.

And other guilds, like Kul Tiras Marines, were transferring into Emerald Dream at the same time. It’s possible Alliance side was strengthening while Horde side was weakening, but overall the server stayed healthy. The current problem with RP war mode imbalance may be hurting Horde side at the moment, but that’s relatively new.

I agree with that. Facilitate people learning roleplay on your own faction; focus your roleplay toward the other faction on PVP.

It’s a waste of time making a Classic RP server and I’m saying this as an RPer from an RP realm.
Do you honestly think your RP-PvP realm will be different from Emerald Dream or virtually any RP server in any MMO ever?
Nope. In a matter of weeks, if not days, it will be flooded by selfish non-RPers that claim to “love” the community they’re driving underground.

I have played multiple MMOs and I have only come across one server in one MMO with a healthy RP community: Balmung on FFXIV.
Y’know why they have a strong community?
Outside of brief windows nobody has been able to join Balmung in years.

So what? We shouldn’t even have the option?

Just don’t roll on the server type if you don’t like it and let us enjoy what we want.

What part of “RPer from an RP realm” was unclear mate?

If someone feels the need to flame the RP-PVP community please just flag as troll and move on. I’m not here to argue who is right, and I ultimately believe I am, just as you believe in yourself. This is about my dream and many others which is to play classic on a rp-pvp realm.

So because you don’t like how they turn out, it’s a waste and Blizzard should just never do it?

and somehow the people who don’t RP and just like the community are the selfish ones?
