Rogues Who Refuse To Open Chests For Group

if they are losing income when leveling lockpick they are doing it wrong

How is picking empty lockboxes and spending money repairing junkboxes in any way supposed to earn an income comparable to going out and farming or gathering mats?

Again, you are wrong. Rogues get income by lovkpicking out in the wild, as well as refine a skill that will give them even more income later on. The discussion is that this class ability should be used, like other class abilities, to the benefit of the group the Rogue is in. You have yet to provide a reasonable rationale as to why the Rogue should have no obligation to pool its skills like all the other classes, to the party they are in.

rogues get junk boxes from pick pocketing…a rogue who is not pickpocket every humanoid they kill as they level is wrong…it is a skill that can be leveled as they level and them junk boxes DROP LOOT…On top of that they can sell their services in citys…

Trust me, the Rogue is not levelling their lockpicking skill to unlock chests for groups in dungeons.

That time investment was done for the Rogue themselves, not for any benefit or service to provide to other people.

Yes it does. I just happen to favor the class that holds the title

The Mage levels, so that they can feed parties, right?

Look, I’ve got lots of people disagreeing with me on multiple fronts, and that’s fine. Maybe I did level my rogue’s LP in a stupid way back in Vanilla and needlessly lost money. I remember wasting a lot of time getting minimal return on investment.

I have always been in favour of the rogue providing their services to the group. I vehemently disagree with rogues who hold out on the group. However, my experiences in classic shaped this impression that a rogue’s LP should also not be taken for granted by the group. This usually manifested as me unlocking the chest, rolling on the item and me keeping the vendor trash.

Maybe I’ll re-level a rogue and see if my opinion changes this time.

if you do … you might find this usefull

people who can unlock a chest roll for it, if not then it goes to the rogue.

Amicable solution, at the start of every dungeon each player gives 5g to each of the other players for the entirety of the services they provide regardless of what they are.

Everyone is happy, tank gets 20g for the dungeon, Rogue gets 20g for his lock pocking, Mage gets 20g for his portals, healer gets 20g for his healing, Lock gets 20g for his summons and his stones, etc etc.

Countless hours? Really? It’s not that hard to level lockpicking.

Countless hours. Lmao.

i just open them and decide who gets what myself. i dont keep caster or tank gear to vendor i give it to the appropriate people

only roll if several can use something, its usually a non issue those chests mostly have some vendor trash and a few pots

The red scare always comes back at least once a generation. I personally do not support communism. I’ll be doing my part by lying about not having a high enough skill to open them. With constant vigilance we can keep socialism away, it just takes some effort. Gl guys we’ll be victorious soon!

Tricking people in order to steal from them is the main feature of communism.

Forcing the minority to give to the majority is the premier trademark of dirty commies.

You’ve got that exactly backwards. Communism puts government actors in gilded mansions while the rest struggle to survive on prison rations.

In case you didn’t follow, that is taking from the majority by a minority.

I mean, it’s a lose lose for them. Lazy player who doesn’t bother with their class skills is not a good look either.

Yeah also no one will believe you. They’ll probably boot you at the end and watch you to make sure you don’t run for it lol.

Exactly. I have no problem rolling against a blacksmith for a locked chest. Timmy the gnome mage who has tailoring and enchanting? Sorry, but you aren’t entitled to it.
