It’s 3000 among all followers, so you can choose a different one tomorrow, or the remainder of the days, but you will have to start back at rank 1 for whichever new follower you choose.
Oh I know its a total of 3000 rep among all of them. I’m sticking with it due to guildies. IE a certain amount of synergy.
Can’t really say I’m having fun.
As I’ve played it a bit more, I got to say I’m getting less excited about the zones and patch.
The theme for Nazjatar doesn’t really fit what I had in mind for a Naga empire to be working on for the past 10,000+ years. It doesn’t seem like this mighty empire/kingdom rising from the depths but just some similar Azsuna sunken temples.
I fully understand the lore of where it comes from, I just figured the naga would be busy building a new empire… or do they plan on growing back their legs?
Mechagon is probably the better of the two, but obviously feels a bit small. It’s great that it’s connected to Kul Tiras, but the power level of the mobs appeared to be a bit too high, making exploring the zones quite challenging and usually struggling more to stay alive then check out the scenery. This is good and bad, just saying.
The PvP events are fine, and the loot boxes are pretty neat, but the sharding of PvP servers or whatever you call them now-a-days is just horrible. Sometimes there’s 45 horde and 3 alliance, sometimes 80 alliance and 20 horde, you never know what server you’ll end up on and the game is 1000% worst because of that. It would be worth taking into consideration merging servers at this point and doing a name wipe.
I’m sure that wouldn’t be an easy task to undertake but these server hoping really ruins that social aspect of the zones.
The essence system is great for rewarding people with power for the more they interact with the game, in a wide variety of areas. That is great.
However, these essence being tied to a single character is just a bit to much for what the essences do. The game is not the same as it was in 2004, it does not take 6 months to level a character to max level and most expansions come with a free level boost now. Most players will have an alt or second character at the very least, and farming out everything exactly the same on two or more characters just kills the content faster.
I’m not sick of dailies because I do them once on my paladin a day, I’m sick of them because I do them on my paladin, then my warrior, then my hunter, then my mage, etc etc. This is the main reason why dailies gets so old so fast.
This essence system will soon face the same fate. I’m already getting burnt out on Nazajtar because I’ve done everything on 3 characters so far just so I can stay relevant on the content I want to do.
I love raiding as a prot warrior for my guild, I love main tanking Mythic+ dungeons for my friends. I despise playing a tank in BGs, I would much rather unlock that essence on my Fire Mage. However, that is not a possibility. So, I will be “forced” to do BGs on my warrior, which I don’t want to play in that setting, so I can get something good enough for a certain Mythic+ dungeon I actually want to do.
This will make me resent BGs and the system.
I’m still playing the same account, same amount, etc, it just gives me the freedom to play more of what I want in certain situations to maximize the amount of fun I can have on this game.
The grinds and achievements should not be easy to accomplish, however, they should be account bound to ensure that players can enjoy that aspect of the game as much as possible.
My main is a warrior, my two friends are mage and a rogue. We all raid and do mythic+ together but when it comes to PvP, islands, and outdoor content I usually switch to my priest to maximize our ability to compete. While all this is happening, they continue to grow stronger on their two classes while both of my classes only benefit from half the game. Again, it’s not 2004, alts exists and should be taken into consideration more when it comes to power buffs such as these.
Again, I just want to emphasize that situations like these require me to play the same content twice as much, making me burn out twice as fast. I’m never doing the content I want to do because I’m to busy repeating the content on characters I want to play some of the time.
I’m going to come back around from my early negativity and say I’m liking essences a lot more than I expected.
Lucid dream makes assassination significantly funner to play.
Welcome to clown craft. Honk honk
Wish we had more class stories like legion, that was great.
After a bit of thought, and a lot more exploration; I’ve made a series of revisions to my earlier post. Please consider that a more accurate reflection of my current thoughts on Nazjatar and Rise of Azshara.
I am liking everything so far but feel the rares should spawn a bit faster rate.
I love Nazjatar as a daily quest zone and world quest hub. The variety of tasks change things up in a way that keeps me interested. So, well done there.
Mechagon though? It does nothing for me and I really wish the rustbucket rep wasn’t part of Pathfinder 2. I don’t want to run around the island to see what’s available for me because the zones are too dense with mobs. The jetpacks are nice when I find them, but then I’d rather just have real flying. The build-a-mount system is interesting but otherwise I’m not interested in the junkyard research things at all. And all the quest bugs I seem to stumble into all happen to be on Mechagon. It’s mostly all personal preference, but Mechagon doesn’t do it for me and won’t be a zone I spend much time in after I hit revered.
Haven’t played BfA in awhile despite having gametime the entire expansion.
Logged in to start the grind to unlock flying in case I ever care about it in a future expansion.
It doesn’t really make me care about BfA. It’s just 2 more obnoxious grinds. Why you make the process so tedious to get something that helps you do things faster that you’ve already had to do so many times you’ll no longer want to do them anymore anyway once you can fly, I’ll never understand. I think you need to come up with a better way of incorporating flying into the game from the start of an expansion instead of the garbage that is the pathfinder process where more than half of your players have quit by the time you can access it. Design zones around flight. Lower the flight ceiling and make the skies more dangerous or add a flight fatigue mechanic that starts out with a pretty limited duration at the start of an expansion, but lets you unlock better versions progressively. There are probably a lot of ways to do it a lot better than you have.
It’s also buggy. The very first thing that happened to be in Nazjatar was falling down the waterfall and dying instead of being caught like it was supposed to. I then had to fall down as a ghost multiple times because it ported me back up each time. I finally hit accept res just before it ported me up and got back up. During one of the quests where you gather a bunch of supplies I had one vanish as I approach (phasing issue) and re-appear as you back away, impossible to click on it.
Huge yawn. Waiting for Diablo 4. Hoping you don’t screw that up as badly as you did with D3.
Feels like chores I would prefer not to do but you locked flying behind them. Time to kill for tanks seems to take longer with higher item level because of mob scaling.
Sadly, this is why my daughter and her SO don’t play, too. They were interested back in Legion when the new races came in, started playing, started the leveling up and rep grind just to get to play the races they wanted, got discouraged and left.
Now, I’ve been excitedly telling them about 8.2. They asked if they could fly and I said you had to do Pathfinder parts 1 and 2. They asked what they had to do for it and I explained the faction and questing requirements, and they both said “No thanks, I’ll go play a game where you can buy it.” (Incidentally, they’re very excited about the new FFXIV xpac going in today.)
I’m enjoying 8.2 but I wonder; how many others feel the same way and how much of its customer base has WoW lost because of this? In my own experience, I know of 2. Do most people know a few?
Just wanted to add to my original comments here.
I love Mechagon. It’s easy to get around and quite fun.
As far as difficulty, it was a surprise at first of how vulnerable I became. Again, I’m not sure if it’s the scaling or outlaw nerfs. I expect things to change as ilvl increases as per usual. The last few days I’ve grown more comfortable and either have gotten better or stealth nerfs on the mobs were implemented.
I like how some of the rares have a certain thing you must do to activate or kill them.
The jumping jelly wq though, in my opinion, needs a rework. It seems you need to hit each spot just right to not undershoot or overshoot your target.
2 words.
Open Spaces.
We need them back.
why are the respawn timers on the rare elites an hour? what purpose does it serve making people sit around for them to respawn? its not like you can get loot from them more than once a day.
it should take no more than 15 min for them to respawn. i have better thing to do with my time than wait around for a rare to spawn for a chance at a blueprint.
sharding is another issue when trying to farm thiese stupid rares. you could sit in the same spot for more than a hour waiting on a spawn when the game keeps putting you in new shards
Mechagon > Naz…jamir…vashj’ir…tar. In the fish zone I fell down a HUGE chasm on the way to a WQ, once I rezzed, I couldn’t even do the WQ because the needed mobs floated down from on high, 1 at a time, slowly, and a tauren hunter tagged them before they ever got close enough for me to hit. And the bodyguard guy is constantly in my way flapping around on his flappy ray.
Gnome heritage armor, A++.
More rep grind at 75 a pop = sadfaces.
Warmode never. Spent 5 or so hours RPing having tea with an old friend at the Stormspire rather than do more Azsharatown drudgery.
I have a plethora of alts to get to 120, but I want to wait until they can fly, because I’ve already done it about 7 times per faction. I can’t see the time it takes me to get flight unlocked being greater than the time it would take me to level everyone even with flying, so PF is kind of having the opposite effect if the aim is to stretch out my time in-game.
I just want to chime in and say that I don’t completely despise a rep grind initially to unlock flying (writing this from the perspective of a more hardcore player that plays quite a bit and has no issues with grinds)… However I do disagree with it (Flying and pathfinder P2) also being gated behind the Mechagon rep. (Najatar I understand with how its centered around the main storyline, but mechagon makes really no sense to me).
I’m going to assume its locked behind mechagon rep because you guys wanted people to have to experience the content you designed there rather than just skipping the zone, however I think the mecha rep portion should be notched down to honored instead of revered, or just taken out completely. Mechagon isn’t the most streamlined zone at all in regards to a rep grind, obtaining rep there is awkward at best with the rare spawn / fishing / pet battling based play.
Aside from that, i don’t really have any other qualms over the patch, I like the new zones - I just think you guys missed the mark on the pathfinder part 2 rep requirement a bit.
My experience, warmode is unplayable for alliance.
I resubbed for 8.2 and man do I sure regret it. Nazjatar has been an awful experience so far for me personally. I am not going to comment on Mechagon, because I hadn’t had a chance to go there since I have been busy this week, and by the time I got done with everything in Naz, I just didn’t have time. But honestly the awful daily quests in Nazjatar made me not even want to go touch Mechagon for fear of how awful it would be!
No one likes having to fight 100 other people for carps, and then when you finally find one, having someone come up from under you and kick it. Not only that, some of the carps spawn on the cliffs and when you kick them into the water they dont actually land on the water and then they despawn! That is extremely frustrating.
Don’t even get me started on the Jellyfish and Candy Crush world quests! Whoever thought that was a good idea probably doesn’t need to have a job anymore.
The bodyguards are a huge pita. They are constantly in the way, attacking mobs I am not attacking, and as a mage, if I need to invis out of a bad situation, it doesn’t do me any good because if the bodyguard is still in combat its going to pull me right back in.
The zone is pretty to look at and I love the music (great job art team), but the zone in general just doesn’t feel engaging to me. As others have said, I think a true underwater zone would have been better. It really does just feel like Argus 2.0.
My biggest gripe…stop time gating repuation. It is killing this game. I remember when 5.2 came out in MoP. It was probably one of my favorite patches to this day. I loved being able to farm the mogu for SPA reputation while doing dailies. It was still slow but it was SOMETHING. Not having flying for almost a whole year, and then time gating it again behind 2 reputations that takes another 3 or 4 weeks to grind is not fun Blizzard.
Ultimately, I canceled my sub again, even though I just re subbed on Tuesday. I doubt I will be logging back in. I will however be playing classic so I am just going to take another break until August.
