I don’t think you understand what I proposed. Keep the movement in Nazjatar as it is now, players grounded etc., and they can move in “flight” using Swimming and Air Mounts.
This was a major reason I suggested from the very beginning of the PTR cycle that Blizzard do a “Air pocket” rather than a giant crater. It would of allowed 2d movement while giving the illusion of being deep under the sea, precisely as the Legend of Zelda: Windwaker does with Hyrule.
I dispute your statement that the engine doesn’t handle 3d well. I saw no issues in Vashj’ir.
I saw a lot of arguments in Cataclysm that were claiming this, but the fact is that was almost 10 years ago. So unless you have a concrete set of diagnostics proving otherwise, I suspect it to be made up facts to push a nonsensical agenda and war on aquatic zones, probably founded on such zones being more detrimental to PVP.
(Because lets be completely honest. Almost every downfall and detriment added since Classic to this game tends to go back / have some basis in an asinine need by some internet tough guy wanting to grief the other faction’s players. That’s the real reason Pathfinder is even a thing).
If the zone was say 20-30% larger and felt like the grounds surrounding the bloody palace, which would be mostly ruined city, it’d be a lot better.
I agree with this to an extent. I feel like it needed a lot more Naga and Water. If we had pockets of air in underground caverns that led to a massive opening where Azshara’s palace was, I think it would of been better.
Nazjatar was billed as a place where water and land exploration happened in Blizzcon. Yet there are no narrow cliffs where Naga can “jump out of the water to attack you” like what we see in the Vashj’ir Dungeon. Instead Nazjatar is a giant hole in the ocean floor, literally.
Now… I’ve been thinking, and exploring. There are a lot of weird caves that lead off into the water, and Ozumat is outside one wall of water, just chilling. Because of that, I’m going to suspend my concerns for the moment with the hope that the Devs know what their doing here and that there is a greater plan in motion besides the current state of Nazjatar.
My hope is that Nazjatar is a springboard area, much like say the Vale of Eternal Blossoms was. I also hope that as 8.2.5 and 8.3 comes, we find ourselves forced to dive deeper into the ocean (to the void with all the haters of Vashj’ir) and we follow Nathanos, trying to put a stop to N’zoth and whatever madness he plans.
Additionally, if the seas were to collapse around us and the Loa Gral (or Neptulon) showed up to save us and give us the means to follow, Blizzard could use the same tech they have for Tirisfal / Undercity to encapsulate “this” moment in Nazjatar’s time, which is really all the players like me want. We want to see Nazjatar in it’s full submerged glory.
My hope is that since we can’t see Azshara’s Palace (there isn’t even a raid entrance visible yet), or really much Naga architecture; that more is to come. I also think that releasing a 6 month Subscription Pledge mount was badly timed.
