Mmm I have had a very heavy hand in that discussion as is already. While I didn’t join it when it initially popped up I did have some back and forth disagreements with a few.

We eventually decided it was in both our best interests to part ways as neither of us was going to convince the other to lay down their arms. :dracthyr_a1:

I was waiting for Karokta and it spawned. I went to make a group for it and it despawned in like 30 seconds. Super fricking lame!!! Please hot fix this horrible mess back to the way it worked before. I don’t get why they do ridiculous stuff like this! What was broken before this to make the change?

I will not do the caverns at all in the same spirit that I refuse to do the trading post.

I could care less about legeendary weapons that appear awesome to do sweetest DPS topping DPS meters then next patch they remove legendary powers… Because some elder god needed its power to survive a triple bypass aneurism cancer infected thought process thinking players should not be allowed to have that kind of DPS.

THEN DO NOT MAKE THE WEAPON !!!

Went to ZC today. No rares up. Immediately left.

So…how rares gonna spawn again???

Same here. I haven’t been able to kill a single rare since this stupid hotfix. And I’m not going to camp a rare for hours only to find out it is not going to spawn today.

Anecdotally, Skaarn and Brul have doubled and tripled in price, respectively, on my server. I’m pretty sure some part of that is this ongoing issue with the rares, but there is a lot of so called “arbitrage” activity on my server too. For the uninitiated that means people with too much gold trying to make more gold by buying and then reselling things at a multiple of the price.

Molten Lava ball went from 35k to 239k in the same period so… I dunno.

So I went down to Zalalek for a late-evening run and found 5 rares up. Cool. I start whittling one down that’s on my hit list … it feels like it takes forever and a day but I’m getting it down. Down to about oh, 10% or so of its hp left and suddenly the server goes “you look lonely; let me reshard you, mid-combat, to a place where all the rares are dead”.

Did you get sharded or did it just despawn? I’m finding whatever they did to make them despawn with no players around is rather janky. I’ve had several vanish mid-fight.

True, I can’t rule out of possibility that all the other rares despawned or were coincidentally killed around the same time, but it smelled like a resharding.

And I’ve got a feeling they’re not going to fix this.

Why would they. They deliberately messed with the zone sharding just recently in an attempt to “fix an issue causing the zone to be less populated than it should”. Which means the zone is gonna be even more unstable than it was before.

It’s honestly mind boggling how much the devs clearly absolutely despise ZC and want to make it as hard as possible to do anything in it. They really need to just reseal the place. Blow up entrance tunnels and call it a day.

i wonder if the “bug” that was keeping ZC underpopulated might have been that resharding was disabled?

(if I remember correctly, there were issues early in 10.1 with people getting resharded in the middle of researcher under fire events to world instances where the event was finished and people were rapidly leaving)

I was in Zaralek caverns for another quest, found a rare and thought what the heck might as well… Landed in front of it and started a lfg party before starting and… it despawned in front of me LOL
What a joke.

if so then blizz lied cause in the hotfix they said if there are no players in the vicinity then it despawns.

So what I’m hearing now… is Rares are vanishing mid fighting? :upside_down_face: What a broken system, who could have predicted this? Oh wait, we all did.

It’s especially hilarious because the solution could have been so much simpler (and has already been requested numerous times):

  1. Reduce their initial health, and if necessary, damage to make them solo friendly for all class / spec combinations.
  2. Scale health up if multiple players engage (this feature already exists elsewhere in game for other mobs).

Refinements to this could have been:

  1. Add a damage reduction shield to give more players the opportunity to tag the target (this already exists elsewhere in-game for other mobs too).
  2. Increased spawn rates as necessary so that players aren’t waiting around for 7 hours for the spawn they want a drop from (especially if that drop is not 100%).

Instead they double down on the most bone-headed solution possible (that also is apparently broken, because of course it is :dracthyr_crylaugh:)
