RIP Ruth Bader Ginsburg

This thread is depressing lol. American politics are so polarized that nobody can see what they are becoming. Everyone thinks they are right. The reason America’s been so great is because we’ve had compromise through our systems in the past. Taking ideas from both parties, the left AND the right has always made us stronger.

We’re so far up identity politics that we have the left fighting “facism” with facism and the right ignoring blatant wrongs in our country and not even giving the woman a few hour’s rest before looking for her replacement.

Anyone here who is still a moderate republican or still a moderate democrat, just know that you’re not alone and that a lot of people still believe in working together.

This is definitely a good point. It’s… kind of worrying. Also, the absolutely worst candidates for specific seats were given them under Trump, like a coal lobbyist? for EPA…

Also I apologize, I can’t tell the difference between boy and girl Vulpera…

You do realize just how many socialist policies the US already has, right? Road maintenance - as said before - from taxes is socialism. So…

I’d say Venezuela has more problems stemming from corruption than anything else.

Looks like some serious dead horses are into the fray now.

Good luck dealing with the mob Brewa.

Are you including social security, unemployment insurance, medicare/medicaid, public schools, public roads, the aviation system, the broadcast airwaves, the police and fire departments, national security agencies, and the U.S. military? All of which are socialist entities.

I’m over here being just a moderate Republican looking at this whole mess the past 5 months and shaking my head. Both sides have lost it in many places.

Technically the ACA is a Republican plan.

It came from when Romney was Governor of Mass.

I wish current Republicans for the most part were interested in governing instead of maintaining power.

They should learn it all. The good, the bad and the ugly. Every country since the dawn of time has used slaves. We need to upfront and honest about the who and the why and where did they come from. We need to teach about the Clovis tribe and how civilizations were built. But most of all we need to stop blaming people today for stuff they never did.

Honestly? Probably religious ideals. They seemed to have learned and grown from it - which is a good sign. That’s the most important thing.

remember just a few days ago when it came out that ICE was sterilizing women and then nothing happened because a bunch of other scandals happened and everyone forgot

Well, I question if it was still happening under Obama. And how much of an impact the president and administration have on ICE.

We look nothing alike, you’re clearly a female Vulpera with those big Joan Crawford eyelashes.

We’re in the same boat friend. Can’t even get your own view points out there without being painted as an enemy by both ever-polarized sides. It’s really sad that people can’t acknowledge the importance of differing opinions anymore.

i wish Obama was the radical socialist boogeyman fox news makes him out to be because in the end he did nothing but further erode our rights and commit more war crimes

She was a class act. I hope Trump nominates someone worthy of her legacy.

This. So much this. Most of the people I’ve encountered dont care what you are, they care what your personality like. I’ve had 2 people ever been racist to me, and the had several more beat them down for it. Racism exists. But throwing a whole race in the pot for it is dumb.

This is 100% correct. In fact it’s almost the same plan Republicans proposed in the 1990’s as an alternative to the Clinton proposal.

Out of curiosity, has there been any proof of this? I saw a few articles citing the same few tweets. Using tweets as a basis for factual horrific acts occurring is pretty silly. I would like to see some actual evidence of this though given it’s just popped up out of nowhere.

Social Media and upvote culture has entrenched people in this,“I’m right, you’re wrong,” mentality. 20 years ago we took to the internet, excited to exchange ideas and thought with other people. Now we put them on ignore, or ban them. It’s a bummer
