You can still mute them for yourself.
Maybe, just MAYBE itâs because of HOW youâre replying. You keep sticking personal attacks in there, and then youâre surprised that enough people are reporting it to get it hidden?
But like whatâs been brought up, it only stops ME from seeing the spam. It doesnât stop my legitimate messages like looking for a group or trying to sell something from immediately being scrolled off of everyone elseâs chat.
Yes, because it happens. That you think it doesnât is simply disregarding mob mentality. And if you look around, yes, this sort of thing happens all the time. Just because youâve never experienced it doesnât mean it doesnât happen.
Iâd imagine thatâs it.
Attack me, post gets hidden. Attack me again, post gets hidden.
Not too hard to figure out⌠Donât attack me, post doesnât get hidden.
Funny how, to him, personal attacks arenât something that should be reportable.
Except he never said that. He said that a benefit of RCR is that it also ignores you. He never said heâs going to just use it as an extra ignore.
Itâs actually very easy: Just donât spam.
That says a lot about you that youâd rather be ignorant of things that affect you and your work environment. But I guess thatâs what happens when you put all your faith in those policies.
In this case, your coworker is undermining you and your work, and your reputation. You tell your boss, and your boss doesnât tell you what happens to your coworker. Did they move your coworker to another department? Do you have to worry about this person coming after you again in retaliation? Did they get rid of this person?
Blizz is a big corporation, who has historically handled their policies professionally, but they are human, and they can make mistakes or overlook issues.
I remember reporting someone for a name violation. Never talked to the person, just reported his name. Couple days later, I get a big nasty tirade from the person with a new name. Only person who even knew I put in a report would have been a GM.
So feel free to give Blizzard the benefit of the doubt, but donât underestimate either mob mentality or Blizzardâs very human Customer Service. I love right-click report, I donât like Auto-squelch.
Or it was in response to just claiming that people only have to ingore and that nobody should report people for spamming?
This has always been the case though and is very Vanilla like. Chat channels will always be filled with noise. Did you propose a solution? How do you want to see this addressed?
Yeah, I really doubt that happened, and if it did, it was an isolated incident and that GM probably wasnât with Blizzard much longer.
Use the existing reporting system that holds people accountable for their actions?
one poster cannot silence another poster by themselves.
generally calling out another poster is frowned upon,
It certainly did. Itâs only a lesson that Blizz GMs themselves are not automatons. Thereâs even that one incident where a Blizz GM started harassing a player who was not moving after a minute in a BG. Caused a big stink on the forums back then, too. He was even less likely to still be employed.
Isolated incident or not, CSRs are human, and again, under a great deal of pressure to oversee thousands of players on a daily basis. Being under the belief that they canât make mistakes is nothing short of folly.
This is why you see them less and less âin the wildâ active on servers as they once were in Vanilla, and why they are rare today.
wonât swear to it, but I believe the forums also have âsquelchâ feature.
I will. Usually comes up when arguing with certain types of Vanilla player who desperately want Classic to have a separate sub and separate servers, away from icky retail players.
Or everyone is just tired of you making personal attacks towards people?
Has it crossed you mind, that other people are reading the thread and flagging your posts? They are not just not vocal about it.
Nah, heâs never responsible for anything that happens.
Perhaps maybe that should tell you something.
