I’d rather not start out in Stratholme or LBRS to find out someone isn’t a functional or competent healer or tank. By then, it’s a little late for pointers, IMO.
The problem is that blizzard lied and you will be layered into oblivion. Even on a low pop server. The last few weeks of the dead classic beta should be enough proof. people still had to join groups to get on each others layer on a DEAD beta realm.
That sounds like the original Vanilla experience to me.
Shh… I’m assuming people have watched those streams like I have.
I mean, I’m just presenting what I could observe by watching the lot of people participating, monitoring the issues that were going on, and so on. And watching people abuse the layering system, but, hey. I don’t know anything.
Well, that is mitigated by the fact that they share chats, auction houses, name pool and are able to group and guild together. So they are not completely separate communities. Those communities will be collapsing dynamically. So perhaps 4 layers at launch, down to 3 layers in week 2. Maybe 2 layers in week 3, etc. So it is not as if 4 layers are all suddenly crashing into one another.
Ugh, this is why I roll on PVE servers.
edit: because words are hard
Haha. This is my ‘gotcha’ moment.
They can kill your auctioneers on a PVE server, too.
And yet they rarely do.
You mean a realm that only has a few hundred to begin with?
ಠ_ಠ
What fantasy world are you living in? You do know they buffed the guards and some NPCs in much, much later expansions to dissuade it more?
Can ask you the same thing. It’s not like there will be city raids every single day. City raids are rare.
Depends on your server. And that’s not a result of a city raid.
That’s just one rogue.
Perhaps I was simply lucky to play on realms that had high life expectancy for auctioneers? I had occasional city raids, but no auctioneer camping.
Yeah, all it takes is one rogue to lock your AH down all day.
Let me fix that for you.
Even on PVE realms a single rogue wouldn’t manage that. Carebears get testy about that kind of stuff and flag up. Then it’s a party
That is irrelevant. Regardless of how many people were on the server it still had several layers. If your claim of it only having a few hundred is true it should be concerning. Also if i had to guess the beta had at least ~3000 people
That’s called testing. The tests were scaled down to the pop in beta.
I was more referring to I don’t think they would test layer merging at like the last month of a beta. They have probably have much more important issues to focus on like actual game mechanic bugs/glitches. Remember: They are getting like a million (figuratively) reports a day. Fixing and testing things don’t happen in a snap of a finger and as someone who works in the background for a website: I know this is true. Sometimes it takes weeks before anything can be done.
Ever tried to catch a rogue that didn’t want to be caught in Classic?
It’s pretty rough if their CDs are up.
And pretty easy if their CDs are down.
