No it isn’t, not in the current game.
Pets are necessary for mortal wounds and melee SV needs to keep using KC to begin with, it has to just be in the open with you all the time and they’re really easy to kill if people want to pay attention to them
Mend pet has a 10 second cd and it is a magic buff that’s easily dispellable. If people want to put in the effort you can kill it. The way you could manage pets in the past was just positioning them in safe spots instead of just being in melee range and just moving them when you needed their utility (something you can basically do with other pet classes still like locks/mages).
You don’t have that luxury as a hunter anymore, not since WoD overall and you’ll certainly not have it with melee SV.
There isn’t an active way to keep your pet alive. Mend pet isn’t it. If someone wants to kill pets as is, they will die. Hence 2 sec rez is fine, easy to kill pets easy to get back pets. With hunters the biggest difference between other pet classes is you can’t even pre start summoning a new pet while your other is dying (can do that as a mage, as a warlock, and as an uhdk your pet rez is instant so yeah lol).
You can’t do that as a hunter, can’t even dismiss pets in arena even though they made it so the cds stopped being unique per pet (either one of those would have changed how pet dismiss spamming was in cata/early mop).
Pets are super squishy in PvP, it has nothing to do with poor management they will die if other people want them to die. You have no experience or frame of reference for what you’re talking about.
As far as the topic of the thread I am in theory fine with a 6 second pet rez if we actually have many active ways to keep our pets alive and they are harder to kill baseline so that there is massive punishment if you have negative awareness, but as it stands now they’re easy to kill and in turn easy to resurrect. If they’re still easy to kill (I doubt they’re actually going to change much) and they have a 6 second rez cast this will hurt hunters significantly more than other pet classes like warlocks who can truly move their pets into inconvenient and safe positions and work with their team significantly more to keep them alive (as well as precast pet summons safely if they needed to anyways, can’t do that as a hunter).
And even for warlocks, their pets are still fairly squishy that even good management I do think if people really tried they could prevent you from ever having a pet depending on the compositions.
It’s hilarious you think it’s just as simple as “omg don’t let your pet go behind a pillar” though.
