Reverse character transfer/remove service cooldown?

I made a mistake and transferred my main to Arugal not realizing it was an AU server. Within 30 minutes of the purchase, I opened a ticket hoping I can get the transfer reversed/the cooldown for another transfer removed because I cannot play on an AU server - the ping is horrible. It has been almost 24 hours since opening the ticket but haven’t heard back - just posting here in case it helps get some attention to the ticket. I read some ticket response times can be up to a week and I really don’t want to have to wait an entire week before I can play again.

UPDATE: Just wanted to provide this update since virtually every single one of you told me I was an idiot and don’t deserve a refund or a reversal of the transfer. Blizzard support just contacted me - they reversed the transfer and gave me a refund and said to be a little more careful next time. No questions asked. Thank you so much to everyone who has been so negative and made so many attempts to make me feel stupid - it made this victory sweeter. Have a great day!

Queue times are really long at the moment. What is important is when you made the ticket and not how long it takes to get an answer. The best suggestion is to not play the character while waiting for a response.

Just to set expectations, the majority of them are still sitting at roughly two weeks’ turnaround. They are answered in the order that they are received, but rest assured it will be answered.

This isn’t berating you by any stretch, but it’s on us as the person making the purchase to know what we’re actually buying. The health and state of a realm, all of it. Always roll a fresh character on a potential realm if you’re not familiar with it.

Now having gotten that out of the way, the only thing you can do is wait. The good news is they don’t hold the ticket times against you. They base the issue off the time you actually submitted your ticket. Something else you can try to do is refund the purchase - you can give that a shot by going to this I’m about link for you. If it doesn’t work, then you will have to wait on your ticket.

The ticket I have is for a refund for a character service, including server transfers, so hopefully I’ll have luck.

People are saying I shouldn’t play my character I want the server transfer refunded for - is this true? I really would like to play and that’s so dumb I’d have to just not play my main because of a simple, stupid mistake. I want to increase my chances of the transfer being reverted, but I’d also like to play my main.

Yes. If you play it, then the refund will be denied most likely as then it looks like customer remorse. That has never been a valid reason for a refund.

It’s not even so much I want a refund; I just want the transfer reversed. I’d be willing to pay again to transfer to the correct sever, I just want the stupid 90 day server transfer cooldown removed. Does that make any difference?

No, as the cooldown is hard coded and not even the GM staff can remove it.

So, I literally can’t play my main account for 3 months? All because of a super simple mistake? Blizzard is a multi-billion dollar company, I just cannot see that being the case, there has to be some way around this. At the very least the server transfer being reverted back to the original server so I don’t have to play at 200 ping? Do you know all of this information for sure or is this speculation?

The issue is that there are several points where you have to make the decision and verify it’s what you want to do. There are confirmation screens. Your mistake might have been in not researching the realm you moved to, but it is literally impossible to just accidentally choose the wrong realm if you’re paying attention to what you’re doing.

They cannot and will not just transfer the character. If they’re able to do anything it will be to refund you for the purchase and likely move them back to the originating realm. But I do believe even then you’ll be impacted by the cooldown? I could be wrong on that part, but perhaps someone who knows more assuredly than I will point that out.

Multibillion-dollar business or not, you agreed to the stipulations of moving your character and acknowledging you were not going to be able to transfer them again until after 90 days. It is a contract that you accepted and agreed to pay for. You got what you purchased. That is the black-and-white matter of what a character transfer is. The only time the 90 days is waived is if it’s a free character transfer who then wishes to purchase a transfer after they don’t like where they free-transferred to. Everything else is hardcoded.

You could have a made a level 1 to check the server out before hand. I know I always did! You can not blame blizzard for you not doing your due diligence.

Why should they have to go out of their way to fix your mistake?

You can absolutely play your character for the next 90 days. And when the cooldown is up, you can pay for another transfer. If you manage to get the transfer refunded and reversed, the character will be restored on the original server in exactly the state it was in when you transferred it. That means any progress you make between now and then will be erased.

Just out of curiosity, how many times during the transfer process did you have to click a button that said something to the effect of ‘Are you sure?’?

Tickets are averagin 2 weeks hopefully sooner.

I just did this (requesting a refund) and I was told no but when I replied to the ticket and said “keep the money; please put my mage back on my second account” they did do that.

They answered my first ticket in 2 days (even though it said 45) and my second ticket in 3 days (that one said 48 days.)

One, maybe? And at NO point in the shop does it mention the 90 day cooldown; I would have been more careful if I had known that. The only way to find out the 90 day is cooldown is by explicitly looking up customer support for problems with character transfers and it lists it there; nowhere is it listed when you login to WoW, click the shop, and initiate a character transfer. I appreciate your attempt to make me feel stupid and inattentive, though. Really helps a lot.

I’m sorry you feel the replies were not conducive. There may not be enough room on the product page to list every restriction or policy, but Blizzard usually does include links to review them prior to purchasing. Hopefully you put in a refund request right away, it might take a bit to get a response though, especially if the automatic refund system didn’t allow for the refund.

It’s not poor customer service though. Refunds weren’t even allowed at all until recently. At what point is it that players should be completely unaccountable for the mouse clicks they made?

I’m not trying to demonize you here, but let’s look at this. It is your responsibility to know the realm you’re wanting to transfer to. It is your responsibility to click through all of the confirmation screens agreeing to every nuance. It is your responsibility to know the terms and conditions of what you’re agreeing to. If you’ve never used the service before, it is on you to take a few moments to look up said terms and conditions.

It is basic player accountability. If you didn’t take the time and effort to do the bare minimum? Why should they have to fix your mistake? They did what you wanted them to do. YOU chose your realm. YOU didn’t read the terms and conditions that have existed since the service was first implemented all of those many years ago. YOU paid them to move your character. They completed all that YOU asked them to do.

See there right above the continue button? There is a blue link to the FAQ. Right there on that page it does list the 90-day cooldown. Should it maybe be bigger? Probably. But even doing that, the majority of people don’t care and just keep clicking through to get it paid and done rather than taking a minute or two to know what they’re buying.

The difference between buying a product and a service, you’re buying a digital service.

That said, as everyone posted prior: You can ticket them which you did and can expect either a negative response or a response that they will undo your “mistake”, once, but the 90 days cooldown remains.
