As a 100 year old man, I get being afraid of the new and unfamiliar; I don’t understand this fear of the old and familiar.
…they don’t lost revenue for retail from classic…you pay for retail and get classic, you don’t get classic for free without retail…
Remember how that Vanilla private server had 150,000 active players before Blizzard shut it down?
Rose tinted goggles though, lul.
Those private servers were not WoW. They were something else entirely. Illegal for one. The game play on those things had little connection to the actual game.
It was a replica of 1.12, and even as an “illegal” server, it attracted 150,000 active players, obviously the real deal will have much, much more.
Classic definitely won’t be for those who cry and complain about easy rep grinds, not being able to fly until mid expansion, wants everything handed to them doing little to no work, etc.
I think they will actually bring in money from those who used to play on that main illegal server and others who play(ed) on other illegal servers. This will be legit and Blizzard run. It definitely will have a following. Plus those who may have cancelled but where here in Vanilla likely will come back to try it out also.
If they keep Classic exactly how it was for the patch they go with, then it will keep people busy for awhile since leveling alone took months for some. Not sure how good the raiding will be though since you need 40 people and depending how active the Classic server stays, it might be hard to get into raid groups or guilds.
Speaking of raids, they may be a lot easier since DBM I am sure will make something for them. Back in Vanilla we didn’t have DBM and had to go off what the boss was doing. But I hope some people who complain today about “this huge rep grind to unlock flying/allied races” plays and see what a real grind is when you need to grind Argent Dawn faction to do naxx. Or grind gold so they can get a mount.
You will NEVER grind enough gold in “Classic” to buy a token, that is a fact. Because the will not allow people to xfer even a level one character to classic that can bring a huge amount of gold with it. Because it would ruin the servers economy on the first day, making EVERYTHING WAY OVER PRICED, and the average classic player will not be able to afford a single copper ore. The players will be solely responsible for the economy from day one, and if they price everything to high, and not inline with what the items were priced at during classic, then the servers WILL FAIL, or at least the AH will.
Your getting “Classic” as it was back then, there will be no gold flooding. Im hoping they will not allow any of what I mentioned, I also HOPE that people can not buy a token for $20 and sell them in classic! If they are somehow able to, then ill be out of “Classic” before my first day is over.
I personally feel classic is gonna flop. I have no interest in it and classic was some of my best times playing.
Classic will be wildly popular.
People who want Classic know what it is and want that.
Blizzard has said no buying services in Classic other than the ones available when classic was out.
Anyone knows if a player who is on WoD or Legion can just reactivate its account and get acces to classic or you need a BfA account? If so, i fear it boosts BfA sells by a lot and then actiblizz will say BfA sold so much it was amazing and extend most of the stuff we hate about this expansion.
Maybe not a flop per se, but a challenge for many to get back to. Not because it will be harder, but because it is so much more time consuming. Many who want Vanilla back have a lifestyle VERY different than what they had back then.
Running a dungeon to do a few quests will take MUCH more time then simply queuing, getting all mobs together and AoE them all while running to the last boss.
Doing deadmines with no heirlooms will take much longer (and it is not the worst),
Casters need to drink, etc.
Still gonna try it.
Maybe flop was to harsh. I actually hope it does do well because Blizzard needs a success story with the current state of BFA. I just am not interested in going backwards, I’d rather they fix the current game.
Supporting classic should be very cheap, certainly much cheaper than it was during Vanilla. They don’t need to develop additional content, and the game will be run on modern infrastructure, which means a lot of virtual machines instead of physical machines, etc, which saves costs.
Why don’t you ask your friends on the classic forums?
The “queue” systems and Cross Relam/Sharding have pretty much gutted the community this game once had.
Ever single MMO these days uses an LFD system and it hasnt had the effect you claim it has.
“illegal”
Yes, illegal.
“Every single MMO” is not 14 yrs old. Most use systems from games that are already out, and successful. WoW, regardless of it’s issues, is the most successful MMO in the history of MMOs so it’s only natural that new games would copy some, if not all, of it’s systems.
“Every single MMO” using a system doesn’t actually make it a good system.
Yes, the LFR/LFG/Queuing/CRZ/Sharding systems have pretty much destroyed any sense of real server community in this game. Games that never had a sense of server community don’t count, or matter.
I’m guessing you started playing in Cata or Mists.
“Every single MMO” using a system doesn’t actually make it a good system.
And I repeat.
LFD systems are in wide use and dont have the effect you say they have,
“Every single MMO” using a system doesn’t actually make it a good system.
Yes it does, when it means the benefits of the system have been recognised widely.
I’m guessing you started playing in Cata or Mists.
Irrelevant.
They were free servers lul, people say they want pure classic, they are going to get it, who know’s what those free servers did to add qol changes. I remember when I first started leveling through hellfire peninsula a warlock friend I made told me that add ons had been completely against the rules in the game, i wonder if the classic servers will be like that.
