Sure, let’s dismiss all the thematic, origin and motivation differences! Then Calia is just right to be Forsaken leader cause she’s human.
Come on mon.
Sure, let’s dismiss all the thematic, origin and motivation differences! Then Calia is just right to be Forsaken leader cause she’s human.
Come on mon.
I mean, she is human. And she was you know born in Lordaeron, so she’s a local. Would you critize her really on the color of her skin? Her dad was also king of the place before and had good contacts in the community, that’s not small too.
Considering that Sylvanas freed the Forsaken from Arthas, unified him and became their queen by devotion, it’s very naive to pressume most of the Forsaken would be happy with simply siding with Calia.
Some would, undoubtedly, but trying to pretend both the Forsaken as a race and the Forsaken players as a whole would happily follow someone so anathema to their themes and fantasy is evident.
Devotion, maybe at first. But fear replaced that really soon. She act like she’s owed everything. When she’s been acting as a tyrant and placing her own ambitions over the wellness of her people. She litteraly made them live in the sewers of Lordaeron and never renovated. I’m sure Calia has better architectural plans.
Only if Sylvanas had murdered everyone not totally devoted to her and retaining some hope for their old lives.
If you don’t think most of the Forsaken are still fanatically loyal to Sylvanas, ya trippin’
Well you have to read the book to understand Calia.
When the council of Sylvanas, her most loyal councellors, met with her they decided to follow Calia (except one that turned back before she revealed herself). The name Menethil is still strong with the people of Lordaeron.
So I definitely do not disagree with you, but for the sake of playing devil’s advocate, Calia has a claim to lead them. The Forsaken are the undead citizens of Lordaeron. Her Lordaeron, the one she was Princesss of before the Scourging. As far as claims to the throne go, hers is stronger than Sylvanas or anybody else. Sylvanas was basically an elected leader in the beginning. The Forsaken flocked to her for the chance at salvation and protection / finding meaning in Undeath. They didn’t owe her anything.
However, a lot of them probably viewed Calia as a royal for many years before the events of WC3, and would follow her as the rightful heir to Terenas. It would be too nostalgic to pass up, especially with the way she is undead, but not like them. Her very creation would give the Forsaken hope at redemption.
Let me close it off by saying that I would MUCH rather see a reasonable and somewhat protective Sylvanas. Have her ditch the crazy banshee act and go back to being cool and dark and brooding.
Edit: This might be what we look at after BfA: Sylvanas is deposed / killed / chased off, and Calia is inserted as the liason between the Horde and Alliance, while pulling a direct 180 out of the evil Forsaken story we have been building up since Cataclysm, taking them in more of a “Zombies but cool about it” arc.
Seems all you doing is understand Calia and not every forsaken that choose not to attend the summit.
I think it’s hard to argue that most Forsaken wouldn’t follow her. Sure ALL wouldn’t follow her. But the genuine reaction from them show promise, more when you consider those were trusted by Sylvanas. Nonetheless Sylvanas left none of those “traitors” alive.
They are not ‘lorebreak’ to me. Light don’t opposes to death, but shadow. They can even be an allied race for Alliance. (who knows?)
But, I do agree that the mere speculation that Sylvanas can fall and Calia would lead forsaken can make any undead fan very very annoyed.
I think if that happened it would certainly be more a separation. The biggest thing that don’t work for me me is how they would make fit Calia in the Horde. So there will be a undead faction with the Horde. Lead by? And another with the Alliance maybe? Or Calia will just supernova and become Jesus and, I’m out of idea now.
Calia is not bad character at all. But its going on wrong time.
Alliance player base don’t seem to appreciate ‘lightforged undead’ idea, and forsaken players don’t want Calia to be a leader if Sylvanas fall. Hell, even L Voss would be more acceptable to them.
I think it’s been more than enough time to progress on the Forsaken story. Considering all the spotlight Sylvanas get, it’s only fair that Forsaken gets more action. Also the lightforged undead idea hasn’t been introduced to the game yet, we have only seen it at the END of a book. So there is more before making a statement about that I feel.
Also Lillian Voss would be more a Calia sympatizer.
Yes, that’s what happens with rulers instead of elected officials. The ruled typically don’t get a say in who rules over them.
That’s…well if that happens it could only be a prelude to dissolving the factions.
Right. Especially when mind control is involved.
Or when it’s not - like the entire history of non-representational monarchies.
I like her, and i like the idea of lightforged undead becaming an allied race for alliance.
Incase Lightforged Forsaken weren’t nonsensical enough for you Blizzard just announced that we will also be getting Lightforged Void Elves around the sametime.
They’re not going to just scrap her model and the money dumped into it.
Solution: turn her into raid boss
