Retcon Calia, reverse Lightforged nonsense

Calia Menethil as the Forsaken leader would fundamentally destroy the Forsaken Racial Fantasy. She doesn’t just stand in opposition to it, she essentially washes the last (what, 15 years) of experiences that have away … I guess because she happens to be a Menethil?

She may be an undead, but she in no way shares their life-experiences since death; and while I’m certain there will be some who’d wish to follow her (those that wish to reclaim their identities they had while Citizens of Lordaeron) … there are also those that likely would be disgusted by what she represents (or those that have more fully adopted the Forsaken personas).

If we need an outsider to become their replacement leader, make it Voss. Screw Calia, I refuse to throw the Forsaken under the bus just for some get out of jail free card (I’d rather Sylvie do a Sylvie and betray the crap out of them for personal gain … and for them to finally be distanced from her; while retaining much of their current identity).

If Calia becomes the new leader of the Forsaken either I will unsub or quickly race change my Horde main from Undead to whatever. Calia doesn’t deserve to be their leader. Look how long it’s been since Arthas killed his father and destroyed the kingdom of Lordaeron. Where has Calia been after that? Oh that’s right she went into hiding. She waited until Legion to show up. She had bascially “forsaken” her own people.

I’m not sure how to break this to you so I’ll just rip the proverbial band-aid off: This isn’t D&D.

While I’m at it though; please cite which edition has light-based undead. If you’re talking about Baelnorn Liches from Forgotten Realms that’s a) a pretty damned niche thing and b) they were/are restricted to elven mages only.

So Calis, the rightful ruler of Lordaron, wouldn’t be a good choice to lead the Forsaken? Who are from there?

Light-infused Forsaken or more generally Forsaken who can work with the Light without intense pain isn’t exactly new. The roots were laid during the Priest campaign in Legion and cemented in the Before the Storm novel.

Unforunately there are some serious Horde fan bois who think Forsaken should be restricted to being edgy Romeros and balk at the notion that they have retained any of their humanity when the lore says just the opposite in the case of many of them.

The nature of the Forsaken and the Alliance’s reaction to them has been an interesting story since their introduction. The Alliance traditionally rejected them as just foot soldiers of the Scourge and abominations but then they dealt with the hypocrisy of the Scarlet Crusade too.

Forsaken are literally being murdered by their leader for not using their new-found “Free will” to do exactly what Sylvanas orders.

Free will is an illusion. The Forsaken are all slaves. They need to be redeemed. They need to be unshackled from Sylvanas. Queen Calia will save them all.

Of course not! The humans of Lordaeron need to be ruled by a corrupted high elf! She is clearly the rightful ruler because she raised them from the dead like Arthas.

What lore does it break?

No more so than your profile.

So you decided to ignore about 400 posts to ask a question that’s already been answered, just to post an insult about my virtual pixel man. Alright. Kinda ironic when you’ve done nothing but LFR.

400 entire posts. Well maybe I’ll scroll through the first hundred.

Calia is bright. You are bright. Very bright

How does that relate to a transmogs?

Alright, don’t pretend that you don’t know how your post could have been misread, unless that’s just one big save you did there.

I assume you thought I meant your profile as in gear, acheivements, mounts, pets, PvP, and raid/dungeon progression? My mistake. I meant profile picture

The real question is do the Forsaken want to be ruled by another Menethil? They were in life, they were after their first deaths (reluctantly), now are free. They are citizens of Lordaeron and Calia should technically be their Queen. But do they want that?

It’s not their choice apparently.

Who do you think makes up the lore man?

As far as we can tell, resurrection in Lore is HARD and only performed sparingly right after death.

And it’s clear that Calia’s reanimation was only possible thanks to S’aara’s intervention. We can even consider into account how the Naaru themselves are inorganic light beings so biological function is not estrictically needed.

Can we stop conflating “things I don’t like” with “this goes against the lore?” The lore changes to the drop of a hat and as long as it doesn’t literally contradicts hard facts (which this doesn’t) it’s just a matter of you not liking it.

And again, the Naaru themselves are the lightiest beings in existence and they aren’t “alive”. there are literally already undead beings who wield the light in the Val’kyr. The lore already has made undead, non-living and light compatible with each other.

I don’ think Calia is going to be queen of the forsaken because they are horde, but some of them can back to alliance and she can be their leader.

This is an important tidbit, all the “Calia will become the forsaken racial leader” issue is mere speculation.

IMO is far more likely if she manages to sway some forsaken and perhaps then have her own faction in whichever side, but It’s hard to believe they would give the forsaken as a whole a Racial Leader so different from their racial fantasy.

If wishes were horses, I’d like if Forsaken and Ligthforged Undead ended up in different factions but were able to be more races than human; but that’s just a pipe dream tbh.

Do you mean how Sylvanas is an elf and Forsaken are humans?

I mean, if Blizzard writes it, since they make the game, does that not make it the lore? We don’t like it, but it’s still the lore when they put it in their game. /shrug doesn’t matter in the grand scheme of life…
