Retail wow update error

I was successfully able to download and install Rumble last night, despite the issues with updating/installing WoW retail. I just tried uninstalling the Battle.net Desktop app, then reinstalled it. This seems to have fixed my issue.

I tried this - downloading and updating other Battle.net games works fine. Only WoW Retail seems to be impacted.

This seems to have worked for me as well! Uninstalling Battle.net preserved all my game files. Reinstalling Battle.net automatically detected all my installed games.

Uninstalling and reinstalling Bnet solved the issue for me as well.

The game was working fine until yesterday and still today not working. I have a brand new M4 Mac, not using any VPNs and i did not change anything just opened battle.net like i normally do and tried running the game. I have done everything under the sun and even uninstalled battle.net and the game, now i cant even install WOW again because of this allegedly network error: BLZBNTAGT000008A4.

But like others have said here this doesnt seem to be a network error, every other app works fine.

MY ISP is verizon, but like i said one day it was working fine, and the next day without changes i just started getting this error. It looks like its something with the program, given it is happening to so many people.

In the logs i see this:

[1215/153139.252680:ERROR:system_services.cc(31)] SetApplicationIsDaemon: Error Domain=NSOSStatusErrorDomain Code=-50 “paramErr: error in user parameter list” (-50)

My specialty is PC support. Like I mentioned before, the folks in Mac Technical Support are better suited for Mac topics and troubleshooting.

Those on PC in this thread seem to have solved it by reinstalling Bnet.

Thanks for the link, but i was able to get it to finally start the game install by uninstalling and reinstalling Battle.net a bunch of times, nothing changed with each installation, the last one just happened to work for w.e reason.

… and the error is back again

So uninstalled and reinstalled Bnet yesterday and the game worked.

Load up today and the game needs an update and I’m getting the same error.

Are we really expected to uninstall and reinstall Bnet every time we want to play WoW Retail?

So now even uninstalling and reinstalling doesn’t work. What an absolute joke.

yes, able to download and update other games, and as I said the beta and PTR versions of TWW all updated

I did all the steps and several re-install of the Bnet app. Nothing.

It’s not just a single player who is complaining about it. This is a genuine issue, and it is not my connection. I am playing 4 K videos with no problem, but is WoW (Retail) too much for this?

Are you guys making sure to delete all the leftover folders after uninstalling battlenet?

Within %ProgramData%

  • Battle.net
  • Battle.net_components

Within %localappdata%

  • Battle.net

Within %appdata%

  • Battle.net

Within %programFiles(x86)%

  • Battle.net

You can press START+R to open a run prompt and copy paste the shortcuts like %ProgramData% to directly navigate to them, in case your explorer isn’t set to show hidden folders. Delete any residual folders like these, then reinstall battlenet.

Something that worked from the Mac forums - make sure you are running the STANDARD version of Battle.net and NOT the Beta. Did that and voila. Game works.

This did not work for me unfortunately. Very concerning to have this kind of error on a patch day. Sure hope they fix it before putting the game live and not postponing the fix until they bring up the realms leaving the bugged folks stranded and unable to play the new update.

Same here I got the “BLZBNTAGT000008A4” error (we’re having a problem transferring data). Restarted the computer, restarted bnet, scanned for error, and when update option appears…same issue happens. Internet working fine, as this post is made from the same computer.

Was having the same issue. Deleted the launcher and it will not reinstall. Deleted all temporary files suggested with win + r. unable to uninstall WoW to re download it. Have tried multiple networks. VERY unimpressed that support is more or less mocking us. This should NOT be an issue after I just re upped for 12 months

also, disabled all antivirus etc. before they come in and victim blame

mine resolved itself after the patch day. I started bnet and it just worked normally.

I have no explanation for this. lol

Same problem as everyone else, started on patch day. One would think, Blizz would at least make a post on the log in page stating they are aware of people unable to complete update and log into game… at this rate, I’m thinking if you cant fix it yourself, you should just go find a different game to play.

While there are posts, I don’t believe that to be a common issue, not service wide anyway. Hard to say how many it affects, or even why. So I’m not sure how effective a launcher post would be if not everyone experiences it.

I am having the exact same issues. Everything else downloads fine except for Retail WOW. Have tried every possible resolution over the past 3 days with no luck. My download of retail WOW starts and then gets stuck between 300-400MB’s and stays there and never continues the download.
