The Blizzard Battle.net Desktop Application requires access to Windows Management Instrumentation to work correctly. If this has become corrupted or disabled, you can follow the steps below to reset it:
Press Windows+Q and type this into the search bar that pops up:
cmd
Right-click on Command Prompt and select Run as Administrator
Enter the following commands into the command prompt window one at a time. Press Enter after each command. Any time you get a confirmation prompt, confirm the prompt. One of the commands may also tell you the WMI service is already started. This is okay.
net stop winmgmt
winmgmt /resetrepository
net start winmgmt
Now, exit the command prompt and restart your computer, then retest running the Battle.net application.
- Install BNet, log in, d/l WoW, enter game!
I hope it helps someone because I know the AGGRO we get from game not working!

i am having the same issue as well. normally i always launch wow from its WOW direct but when i did it said “incompatible” i had just come back not even a week ago. and had everything updated for war within. I DID have to move all of the game files into an external NV2PCIe SSD because i sadly don’t have one installed on my PC. (and it worked GREAT for about a week and a half)
wow launches fine, and i can log into battlenet. but all it does is completely freeze when i try to install wow. i haven’t tried any other games with it.
i poured through older posts of this similar type and i have tried updating video card drivers several times (didn’t work) and a bunch of other stuff. (also didn’t work) i am just going to have to resort to reinstalling battlenet completely after i did a search to see if can have every piece of battlenet removed from my SSD.
this is why there NEEDS to be a way to update wow without battlenet because there seem to be more problems with it then without. and frankly i am getting tired of fighting with battle net JUST to play wow…
11.0.7 did release last Tuesday, and you will need the launcher to update. Not sure how your connecting to the external drive, but USB likely isn’t going to be enough for updating.
I don’t remember what the original issue with updating was, but the launcher has been used for some time.
Any open pci ports you could get a pcie to m.2 adapter? Not sure what mb you use, what open ports you have.
