It’s an mmo issue more than It’s a Wow issue. Heck it’s more of a societal issue. I’ve had the most toxic experiences playing FFXIV just as much as Wow. I cannot stand the FFXIV community, but it’s not their fault more than it is their reputation.

FF14 community is the Canada of MMO gaming. They have a very good very unearned reputation. I know tons of rude Canadians. Their history is terribly marred just like any other countries. Their people are varied. Yet they have this sterling reputation that just isn’t anywhere close to reality.

Oh absolutely. I live relatively close to America Jr. as it’s known around me. Some of the most awful human beings I know are from Canada. Conversely one of the most toxic mmo situation I was ever in was in FFXIV.
Not compared to the classic community, both are pretty awful in their own ways and all you have to do to get classic to be angy at you is make any sort of suggestion to the game.
That’s because the moderation in final fantasy. For a lack of a better word is totalitarian in getting a vacation from the game for saying something that even remotely looks toxic.
Classic community has unearned ego. It’s actually insane how sweaty those players get and nasty towards each other considering the ease of the content. Gotta commit to meta classes and grind out the best gear or else you won’t clear the raid in 40 minutes. 45 minutes isn’t acceptable on opening day!
So, you’re judging an entire community off one encounter? I’d call that pretty toxic personally.

Yes, which is why the removal of LFD was a bad decision. Either people buy boosts from Blizz, or buy boosts through dungeons, etc, or require some weird meta group to spam dungeons. Same thing for raids, add in GDKP so people can buy everything they want too.

Hyperbole aside it only takes one bad experience to ruin something for you forever. Though I agree that labeling a whole community over one bad experience is pretty messed up.
I’m sorry…what? The classic community is WAY worse than the retail community. The things people say to each other, the way they treat one another over content that has be irrelevant for 12+ years is honestly vile sometimes.
I’m actively playing both retail and classic, and I would take the retail community over the classic community any day of the week.
Is that toxic casualism? Everyone has different levels of skills so for some people those kits are difficult enough. By asking for content to be made harder you are asking for content to be taken away from them because you deem it too easy. So yes you are going to get some angry people and blow back from suggestions like that.
I mean when the response was suggestion some level of difficulty being re added to summoner was labelled as Elistism. Yes.
And summoner now is basically a one button spec with cool visuals.
Toxic casualism is 100% a thing on the forums, but more people can agree so it “justifies” beliefs.
