I would LOVE for it to be much stronger, but at the same time I feel like it would do too much for our burst to pump it that high. I would LOVE for us to top meters but that is entirely unrealistic and also just as unhealthy, in my opinion. I would rather be in a comfortable middle of the pack, maybe even fighting for say the bottom of the top tier.
Also, a comment from someone in one of the Paladin discords:
"Cant post on US forums so
Other small tweaks that could be possible:
Swift Retribution: Next to granting 1/2/3% haste for anyone affected by your auras, increase the paladin’s haste by an additional 1/2/3%
Righteous Vengeance: Next to granting the dot on a crit, increase the crit chance on said abilities by 1/2/3%
Vengeance could just stack up to 5 times instead of 3, as you suggested
Maybe similar to the rogue combat talents (Prey on the Weak), we could incorporate something like that into Pursuit of Justice:
Your critical strike (damage or chance?) is increased by 2/4% when the target has less health than you (as a percentage of total health)"
Just passing it on.
Maybe but you should probably just tank to be honest.
I really don’t think it would be an outlandish buff to increase Crusader Strike damage. Our burst isn’t exactly insane right now against anyone with resilience and it’s not like we have Mortal Strike effects.
I’m not asking to top meters (until ICC with Shadowmourne), but I would like to not be under damn Frost Mages and Subtlety Rogues.
Again, commentary about prot and holy has no bearing on the discussion at hand. Feel free to troll, sure. But you’re really not going to affect it in any way except to become the joke people tell.
I agree. I miss it being 15% in classic.
Bruh, amen. It feels SO sad.
Yes. That’s what you should play. It’s not hard to understand.
Just stop. Seriously.
Well it’s over, boys. Assure has told us to stop. Pack it in. No Pally DPS for this expansion.
Not gonna lie, I muted him lmao
Ret is a support role.
Sure. Give a flat damage % increase buff in raids/dungeons only (not world/pvp for balance concerns), then remove it when ICC drops.
To get the buff, you have to take the Divine Storm talent, and it’s only active when you’re wielding a two handed weapon.
Problem solved!
If we assume that the OP, Ogb would´ve had the effect of T10 on his last patchwork fight (40% chance to reset DS on AA), that would´ve increased his DPS in said fight by ~1k. (rather less than that because this is quick math, not taking GCDS or procs close to DS being ready/whilst DS ready into consideration).
That would´ve put him on tenth place in the dps ranking, of exactly that fight.
So even with that T10 bonus for free, it would not be anywhere close to making ret OP, but rather pushing ret more in a decent dps territory.
It’s a bad situation that ret dps power than most but your spec brings a lot of utilities and buffs
you also picked ret as main knowing would be weaker until the t10 set bonuses just like people who picked warriors knowing they would be weaker until ToC
Like every spec does. Thats a non argument.
I picked a protpally as a main, for me its not even an issue at all. But still, thats a non argument against buffing rets.
Wotlk has implemented several changes, and class balancing is based on a late gamestage patch anyway. So adjusting lackluster dps, is something to consider.
And as i´ve shown above, even with the full implementation of T10 bonus in current content, which is widely regarded as THE big dps increase for rets, it would not even bring rets anywhere close to being a top dps atm.
It would bring a ret which at that time had the top5 log in the world, to a dps output of ~7700 at best at patchwork.
Thats a number of dps even my elemental shaman can achieve with minor effort, and every good warlock, mage, dk, enhancement… etc… will not even bat an eye on.
In classic wotlk ret was more than viable in progression raid, if you just watch progression world first raid videos in ulduar you can see ret in the top of a lot of encounters.
The actual status of the class is just unacceptable, ruining the game experience and onestly a lot of private servers ar far better . Paying my subscription every month like all other ppl here , give us a service.
Im not a game developer, find out a solution because in next tier the things can only be worse than now.
every reply like " hehehe holy and prot are OP shut up!1!!" or “you are a support class you have utilities!111!!” are just garbage, other classes have utilities too but are performing far better.
if the developers wanted the real wotlk experience they would release the content patch by patch. Now keep and eye on the fix this situation
this is blizzard enterteinment not a small indie company!!!
Reading this all i saw was that you literally have to learn to play ret. Sorry but ret during ulduar and togc geared differently, we used armor pen. Quit ceying and learn 2 Paladin.
Great idea! And since fury is balanced around 100% armor pen lets bake that into the class too. They shouldn’t need to wait for the gear to perform at the top either.
My retadin does fine. Play it better. Spec better.
Prot is the only tank spec in Wrath that can do good in both PvP and PVE, can do good in arenas, do good in raids, do good in all PvE content as MT and as OT and does good in BG PvP.
Only tank spec in Wrath that can do all that.
Do you have eyes? Look at Warcraft logs. If you’re performing well in your guild it means your guild members are terrible players. Ret is shockingly bad and will only get worse in Ulduar. It needs buffs.
