My guild just asked me if I’d play my Mage this week because my sub-par 60th percentile mage does more damage than a 99th percentile Ret Pally. It’s just a feeling, but I feel like this is prelude to asking me to main switch moving to Ulduar

I think the biggest concern is the type of monster we create if they buff Ret… like wow shattering changes… 
Are you talking about the energy bug that blizzard caused and then fixed? Or are you referring to something else?
i can absolutely see your point. but is it a good idea to buff the most popular class in the game? it will also remove tanks and healers from the game as they switch to new viable ret. paladins are 20%+ on most servers.
imo they should start selling boosts. rets were fooled by youtubers, i saw it in vanilla and tbc classic the same way, just not anywhere near as bad. i laughed at them the first two xpacs then fell for it on this one.
I play and continue to play ret because I enjoy it, not because of some half-baked youtuber saying anything about it. That doesn’t mean that I should remain very low in viability because they want to use last patch tuning for earlier tiers where our dps was only good in ICC because of Shadowmourne and T10

So, what you’re saying is, it would make more room for Prot Warriors and and Bears to fill the gap.
they are filling the gap. they have the same issue.
this is blizzards solution to the tank/healer shortages.
It’s not a very good argument regardless, people who are playing Prot and/or Holy are not going to swap to Ret just because it got buffed. If they wanted to play DPS they would, as a different class, right now.
some would swap and some wouldn’t. i know some personally that would swap. they didnt want to be tanks in the first place. probably same as you.
If they truly didn’t want to tank, they wouldn’t, same for healing. So I’m calling your bluff. It’s not the same as saying Assassination vs Combat

my specific two friends that are tanks wanted to be ret. but it sucks. they swapped rather than start over. i was originally ret and wanted to be ret. but it sucks and i had a 70 rogue i could level.

Swapping specs when you have multiple specs doing the same role is not the same as changing roles. Pretending it is is dishonesty.

I’ve stuck with Ret, but I have my Prot spec too. My guild leadership has nudged me to go Prot or reroll a UH DK a couple times.
I don’t really want to level and gear another character anytime soon and we’ve already got another Prot Paladin tank, so I don’t know.

i’d go rogue. i’ve been super happy with assassination. and its easier to play even. i did more dps as a fresh 80 then i did on my paladin who has several 10 and 25 man pieces. its nuts.

Why do you people think that everyone chose to roll something based on some random preconceived idea of what things do in Wrath?
I didn’t “roll” pally for Wrath. I picked pally in TBC and it’s the only character I play. I have no desire to reroll and regear another toon.
