I don’t think paladin dev play this game at all, that person or team only look at numbers, ret aura is NOT the reason for so many ppl play ret, at all, if bring ret player numbers down is their goal, what they did is taking away spec fantasy while benefiting no one.
It sounds to me like you’re scared to compete on an elitist raid team for your spot.
It definitely benefit anyone that isn’t a paladin because now one more spot is open for competition and is flexible.
There is no competition when most guilds already a few officers are playing the spec, there is no chance, now there is even lower chance.
Sounds like you need to find a less anal retentive guild.
name one mythic guild that is not what you just typed
If you’re in a hardcore mythic raid guild then you should know that you need to compete for spots on the team and always be prepared to do what is neccesary to succeed (including changing your main).
If you play well and can do good damage a lot of guilds will take you but yes if you’re average then you won’t get prioritized anymore, competitive content has competitive spots
Let me be clear that my complaint about ret aura has nothing to do with me personally getting into mythic raid and play the social game to get CE, it is about the spec fantasy and blizz ruining it thats all, everyone is the same, everyone has to bring exactly the same thing, making the game boring, sorry.
If a buff that you never really interacted with and was never noticeable was your paladin class fantasy then Idk what to say. Moreover it never forced you to bring a ret paladin you could have a holy and prot paladin filling those auras.
I never said I never interact with ret aura idk where you got it from, I interact with crusader, devo and ret aura when pvp depending on the situation and the decision making is part of the fun.
Ret aura always was before the less noticeable and interesting aura. They buffed it so it would compete with other raid buffs but if you want the class fantasy out of it and to bring back the “does 100 holy dmg when getting hit” feel free to ask that.
They could rework the aura instead of removing it, it is lazy and taking away the flavor of the class, they gave warriors stance back. Switch auras depending on the situation and listen to the sound of each aura gives the feeling of being a paladin, I don’t know why blizz doesn’t understand class fantasy is important in a fantasy themed mmo, why even have classes and specs if you continue to dilute it.
Talking about balance, can we not be forced to play dwarf/night elves due to their OP racials? Balance required please.
every week wowhead posts some dps rankings without any actual numbers involved, and missing a lot of contextual data that blizzard has and we don’t.
Blizzard has proven that they can effectively sandbox PVP balance so there is no real reason to have the tank and healer damage tax anymore but they still have it.
Right now there are 6 plate specs balanced around having an extra 2 minute damage cooldown and a higher ilvl weapon than every other spec, and there is not any guarantee you’ll have this weapon before prepatch or before TWW launches. So yea, we like things balanced but around what?
only really in mythic, otherwise you can literally just start your own raid. and quite frankly the second blizzard ditches raid id lockouts for mythic that all goes away.
refresh my memory on what those even were?
between the 80% aggregate throughput nerfs in dragonflight, the mana nerfs, the perception that you need some special add-ons for healing and that it is more difficult than either tanking or dpsing, yea, healing is simply not accessible to a lot of the playerbase because of all that and the rote toxicity of players. There is nothing else in this game quite like getting yourself together to learn to heal some dungeons and the entire group of randomly selected players stopping after a boss specifically to tell you that you’re a terrible healer (except meaner), you should stop healing (except meaner), and then kicking you from the group, and then whispering you after you’ve been kicked with additional mean comments, I’ve seen that happen a dozen times not counting the two times its happened to me. The community isn’t exactly forward with the resources to improve, and basically the best and only guidance for the past 2 seasons has been to either roll a MW (for revival) or priest (for mass dispel). So yea, healing in general is missing some resources, the community will, and coherent and consistent healing kits.
that’s harsh, why remove it anyway? So Rets aura that they bring to the table is Crusader aura? haha what a terrible trade
Is funny how we are full circle again, with every class having their own buff, is just a matter of time we go back and they start removing buffs.
Let’s be real, most people didn’t even know how Ret aura worked since it has been reworked like every expansion, it was probably the first raid buff on the chopping block.
the current devs are untalented and lazy is my conclusion
Class design and healing particularly imo is in a rough spot, but basically DF talent trees were too powerful and that isn’t really getting fixed. Imagine playing with 4-5 tier sets and cooldowns that would compete with each others, even Legion in many ways was more reasonable and it feels weird saying that. And hero talents clearly won’t fix the bloat.
I know I personally take bad faith arguments like this very seriously
coming from a DK what a surprise
